Saskia loves commercial fiction that features complex and dynamic characters and is fascinated by stories containing document inserts or written from multiple perspectives. Saskia enjoys commercial and book club fiction and is particularly looking for cosy crime from any period (whether contemporary like Janice Hallett and Richard Osman, traditional Golden Age murder mystery or historical), WW2 historical fiction in the vein of Heather Morris or Markus Zusak, twisty psychological thriller with a unique hook, LGBTQ+ romance, underrepresented voices and perspectives, YA thriller or romance, and locked-room thriller. Saskia would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 page synopsis and the first 2,500 words of your manuscript in a single word document. In addition, we introduce them to the professional jewellery industry by teaching business skills. Classes are taught in small groups of no more than 10 students, enabling you to spend quality time with your tutors. Our main activities take place in the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire, London and the North West. Our work ranges from the curation of book tours, literary readings, spoken word and poetry performances, to educational workshops and mentoring. Africa Writes festival is a biennial celebration of contemporary literature from Africa and the diaspora, brought to you by the Royal African Society and presented in partnership with the British Library. The tenth edition of the festival introduces brand new regional partnerships that sees the festival co-curate satellite events in Leeds, Swindon and Birmingham. We will start on Saturday 5th March 2022 at Leeds Literary Festival in partnership with British Library Bath Spa, Geraldine Connor Foundation and Leeds University Centre for African Studies. The programme has been curated by Khadijah Ibrahiim with additional sponsorship from Flutterwave. Future dates will be announced on our Africa Writes 2022 festival page. Launched in 2012, Africa Writes showcases established and emerging talent from the African continent and its diaspora in what is now the UK’s biggest celebration of contemporary African writing taking place over an exciting summer weekend. The festival features book launches, readings, author appearances, panel discussions, family workshops, and other activities. Our previous headline speakers have been Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ngugi wa Thiong’o with son Mukoma wa Ngugi, Wole Soyinka, Ama Ata Aidoo, Ben Okri, Nawal El Saadawi, Alain Mabanckou, Chigozie Obioma, Mona Elthahawy and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah.

We enjoy the attendance of international delegates, from a wide range of cultural, social and professional backgrounds, who all contribute to what makes the BeeLeaf experience so special. BeeLeaf is a not-for-profit Organisation and was established in 1993 by Hypno-Psychotherapist and Trainer, Pamela Gawler-Wright, to establish a unifying identity for her therapy and teaching work. Pamela has designed and delivered seminars, workshops and training courses since 1986 for many local authorities and established Training Organisations, across the length and breadth of the British Isles. BeeLeaf is a response to the request of many of her clients, trainees and supervisees. People hungered for creative, practical and challenging Psychotherapy training in a learning environment that honoured in practice the presuppositions of Erickson, Satir, Perls, Bateson and Systemic NLP. Therefore, an independent training organisation was created, that grounded its work in the ethical and therapeutic application of Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy and Ericksonian Hypno- Psychotherapy. This approach has since blossomed into the modality of Contemporary Psychotherapy. Over the years, BeeLeaf has become a team of talented professionals with decades of collective experience in provision of psychotherapy and training, who have joined Pamela in this successful endeavour. Gill Turner, psychologist and Consultant, joined BeeLeaf in 1997 and assisted in forming the Foundation Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy. The expansion of activity required the input of a new Managing Director and in 1999 Mandy-Jane Herring, an experienced Educationalist and Manager led BeeLeaf in another evolutionary leap. Not long after this Julia Lloyd, Graphic Designer joined as a Non-Executive Director. BeeLeaf’s team has since grown and is complemented by several other experienced and talented professionals in the field, all of whom bring something very special to the whole training experience.
