The NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate aims to build on the success of the National General Certificate. It provides an appropriate breadth of underpinning knowledge for non-specialists in fire safety to enable them to discharge more effectively their organisational duties or functions with respect to workplace fire safety. The course has been designed for managers, supervisors, employee representatives and others who are required to conduct and review risk assessments and fire preventative and protective measures within the workplace.

However, these stories can be hard to find – and even harder to shape. When you know your service users well, you can struggle to put their story onto a page. You can end up missing major opportunities because you can’t explain why you do what you do in a simple, emotional way. You’ll learn how to find, shape and tell stories in a way that connects donors emotionally to your cause. We’ll feature a live demonstration of turning a case study or a scrap of an idea into an emotional, simple story. Then you will get a chance to use these tools for yourself. You will leave equipped and inspired to build deeper emotional connections with your donors. As well as some beneficial training, the day is a great chance to catch up with others working in South West and Wales Hospices. In July 2022, Fundraising Magazine named him ‘the most influential fundraiser in the UK’. He has also transformed existing approaches to go beyond ‘logo-led’ fundraising with St. John’s Ambulance and UNESCO. Having worked with charities of all shapes and sizes, he is keen to create the tools that will work for you. *About Jane: Working with charities seems now like it should always have been my career path. But the lure of auditing (has anyone ever said that?),and then HR, swerved me from seeing where my heart really lay until 5 years into my working life. I’ve had the honour of working with charities all over the UK for the past 20 years through our family business, Majestic Publications. Over time, my work with charities has developed way beyond the production of their free-of-charge fundraising publications, and I now spend a significant proportion of my time acting as an advisor, a networker, and trainer for wider issues too including GDPR, Direct Mailing, and working with commercial participators. Having established Jane Montague Consultancy as an entity in its own right, my role, as I see it, is two-fold: - - to help and assist charities of all sizes to make connections with businesses, with other charities, and with professionals so that fundraising goals can be met, exceeded, and new strategies formed. - to guide charities and companies through the minefield of the new regulation surrounding charity and business partnerships. I provide the commitment to work with regulatory bodies such as the Fundraising Regulator and the Charity Commission to ensure that charities and those companies that want to help them, are protected and regulated, earning the trust of the communities that they serve.

This one day masterclass is designed to provide a practical application of the content that is covered within The DEI Playbook and is aimed at anyone tasked with launching and implementing diversity and inclusion within their organisation.

We communicate daily in many ways, including email, phone, text, Zoom, Teams, Google Meets, Slack, and even that old-fashioned thing, what was it now... oh yes, talking face-to-face. But, when we look at communication closely and really drill down into what we are doing in conjunction with how our brain works (neuroscience), how internal, organisational, and social politics control what we believe we can say, how hierarchical positioning impacts our honesty and how the lack of psychological safety means we say what we know others want to hear rather than what they need to hear…. It is oh so complicated! This workshop not only explores the concept of excellent communication, but we also want to hear what you believe it is too. We also delve into how organisational culture influences our perception of speaking up. Factors that hinder open and honest communication, and we work collaboratively towards removing these barriers to achieve a communication style that fosters trust and transparency, creating psychological safety. This workshop is particularly relevant to our Emotional Intelligence workshop (EI and Me). We firmly believe that developing emotional intelligence is the key to unlocking Clean Communication, a skill that is crucial for all of us, regardless of our roles and responsibilities, so that we thrive in our professional environment. The conundrum of communicating with others and their styles (The TRAP). How would my perfect Manager/Leader communicate with me? Nonverbal communication (body language), rapport, Clean Communication. Negative communication can go viral (Self-Fulfilling Prophecy). Reflections, findings and goals (individual and team). Meeting our workshop objectives by listing five areas for development. Workshop delivery and venue This workshop is usually one day in duration, and it focuses solely on how we communicate with each other. It can also be a two-day event incorporating aspects of Emotional Intelligence (EI) with group, and individual activities to allow discussions about the various communication we need in your organisation. When you consider the content we deliver, we are sure you will understand why we always prefer to deliver our workshops, courses and programmes face-to-face. Face-to-face workshops and courses can be held at a location of your choice or, if you wish, a central UK location, such as the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, located directly across from the Birmingham New Street train station. We can deliver our workshops, courses and programmes online, although this will mean splitting elements into manageable learning events to suit the online environment.
