The West Bowling Youth Initiative (WBYI) is a small charity and local voluntary sector organisation based in a multi-cultural area of Bradford. It was established in 1991 by local people to work with predominately young British Pakistani Muslim men, especially those who were at risk of offending. The initial project was supported by The Prince’s Trust and subsequently gained funding and backing from other charities, EU and government funding and ongoing support from the local authority. Over the last 25 years, WBYI has broadened its remit and has developed a strong reputation for successfully engaging hard to reach young people, including those excluded or struggling at school, ex-offenders and those in the criminal justice system and others facing a difficult transition to adulthood. WBYI currently works with a core age range of 13 to 25 year olds including, employment support programmes; alternative curriculum programmes for schools and crime prevention work through personal and social development projects. In addition, school holiday programmes and sports activities cater for local 7 to 13 year olds and increasingly there is a demand for volunteering and leisure activity.

Safeguarding Against Aggressive Antisocial Behaviour through SportAs a company we are very proud to have delivered or intervention programmes and training to diverse public and private sectors including Schools, PRUs, Secure units, NHS Hospital Trusts, Social Services Departments, Charities, Court’s, etc., and have also been involved with various Crime Prevention Initiatives. We have been fortunate enough to have provided our services to Staffordshire county council, Wolverhampton city council, Catch 22 to name a few. Whilst undertaking much of this work, it has highlighted that sport is a huge tool to engage young people to bring about behaviour change. Sport is the environment where boundaries, rules, making positive decisions, social interaction can all be installed and transferable skills utilized within the classroom and outside of school. Therefore we use Sport as a tool to tackle aggressive and antisocial behaviour to achieve our desired outcome, developing disciplined and well integrated young people. SAAAB Through Sport promote professional practice and encourage a proactive response to supporting young people to manage their own behaviour. We are committed to providing holistic bespoke programmes and training programmes for educational organisations who work with some of the most vulnerable and most challenging young people in the UK.

About Be The Change Be The Change is an award winning youth organisation based in Bolton. Our name reflects our commitment to developing young people who are a positive force in their community, and bringing people together who represent Bolton in all its diversity. We started out delivering weekly football sessions, and our work has expanded to include a range of sports and arts programmes, knife crime prevention workshops and mentoring activity.
