Alternatively, activities can be located in school grounds and community spaces.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Our programmes can involve half or full day courses of 6 weeks -12 months in small groups o r a combination of individual and small group key work.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Each programme is based around the needs and interests of the children or young people, including; woodwork, den building, fire lighting and backwoods cooking, nature art, games and stories, habitat exploration and woodland walks understanding the flora and fauna, gardening and horticulture, estate management and maintenance tasks.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">In combination these activities allow the development of teamwork, communication, problem solving and critical thinking, and encouraging participants to focus, develop a sense of agency and make positive decisions.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">As part of their programme, young people may work towards a National Outdoor Learning Award or Laser Award from entry to level 3 &ndash; providing the opportunity to achieve and gain recognition they may be struggling to access in a traditional classroom setting.</p>

I can only say it was even better the second time around - and on top of everything we were blessed with lovely weather.

Abi and Alison are not only knowledgable and experienced in their craft but are friendly and patient and always engaging. They had made strenuous efforts to keep everybody safe in these strange viral times and to put everybody at ease.
The whole two days were a joy. Exciting, and inspirational. It’s given me so much more confidence now, to improve on the techniques and skills learned and to advance with a raku kiln of my own. I cannot recommend the experience too highly. 
No doubt I will be back for another ‘booster’ session in the not too distant future. It’s worth it for the food alone!

What to expect
A brief introduction and demonstration on mosaic making using the Direct Method. Included will be how to use tile nippers, how to create shapes and an explanation of various andamento styles and how to grout. Please note that grouting will not be done in this class however you will receive a grout bag to take home with full instructions (including a video for reference).

In the workshop, Lou will share her techniques for creating detailed but simple circular pattern drawings.&nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">We&rsquo;ll begin with readymade circle templates to get you quickly started, but Lou will also share methods of creating and dividing circles using compasses so that you can go on to create any kind of mandalas you like, on any kind of surface. We&rsquo;ll work with fine liner pens, and Lou will also have options for colouring and decorating your mandalas with markers and watercolour.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">During the workshop, you&rsquo;ll develop your own collection of mandala patterns that you can use to build up intricate and complex designs that make every mandala unique. We’ll work with fine liner pens, and Lou will also have options for colouring and decorating your mandalas with markers and watercolour.
During the workshop, you’ll develop your own collection of mandala patterns that you can use to build up intricate and complex designs that make every mandala unique. You’ll use these patterns to create a finished piece with the option of framing your completed mandala.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking.

Most of our workshops are also available to book for small private get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and as in-store retail events. The way we breathe affects everything we do, everything we think and everything we feel. It affects our sleep, our digestion, our immune system, our energy levels, our emotions, our ability to think clearly and our relationships, to name but a few.
In this course we will be combining my passions of Qigong and Breathwork to help bring us into balance so we can move though Autumn into winter full of peace and vitality.
Why Qigong and Breathwork?
Qigong is breathwork (Qi is Breath), it is an amazing way of opening and clearing the body, of making space for our healthy energy to flow. It allows us to stay relaxed and receptive without forcing or pushing. It is easy to learn and naturally attuned to your individual body and how it wants to expand, release and recharge.
Breathwork is simply bringing our conscious attention to our breath and is one of the most powerful ways we have to change our state at any given moment. In the course i will introduce you to eight different breath techniques to help you to breathe better. Commit to just 10mins a day and you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve.
Everyone is welcome to join the course no matter your experience.

ART SIPPERS is an online art experience that’ll see you with a paintbrush in one hand and a cheeky sip in the other!
