A leading educator has called the Centre Academy Schools (London and East Anglia) “the most successful special needs schools in the UK and, indeed, the most unique.” Here’s why: We accept a broad range of ages, boys and girls, from 7-19 (9-19 in London). This eliminates the anxiety, common to SEN students, of having to move from school to school to school. Research has repeatedly shown that for an SEN student, moving school is a tremendously daunting experience. We address an equally broad range of learning challenges on a case-by-case basis: ASD, AD/HD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language needs, Anxiety to name but a few. Such breadth and versatility is essential, as most SEN students face more than one learning challenge—and Anxiety is common to almost all. We group not by age or by year group but rather by ability and level of preparedness. Research repeatedly shows that SEN students accomplish best when they work with peers who are working at approximately the same level. We keep our schools small, approximately 50 at London and 60 at East Anglia. This ensures that our class sizes are small (usually between 4-8 students) and that learning will be individualised. At the CA schools, one size does not fit all. All our teachers are highly experienced and all have significant expertise in teaching SEN students. We do not increase our student to staff ratio through use of learning support assistants. I have scoliosis and since I was 14 I went to the physiotherapist every week to improve my posture and reduce my back pain. I lived many years abroad as a humanitarian worker. I started my journey with yoga in India in 2009, which changed my life. At that time, I was living in Chennai and to take care of my back pain, I took private yoga classes for 2 years. Thanks to my teacher, I no longer needed to go to the physio, I had my practice to manage my pain. I did my first teacher training in 2012 at the Sivananda Ashram in Orléans. When I started teaching, people with different pathologies came to me, and I was afraid of hurting them, or to do the wrong think. I then began my journey in anatomy with Blandine Calais Germain and her team in 2013. In June 2017, I was one of the very first Yoga teachers to receive her Anatom'Yoga diploma (more than 300 hours of training in anatomy applied to Yoga). My dissertation focused on the link between the spine (obviously) and breathing. My other anatomy teachers are Leslie Kaminof (New York) author of the Bestseller Yoga Anatomy and Thomas Myers (USA) author of the very famous Anatomy Trains and fascia specialist. Today I deepen my knowledge by following personalities such as Gil Hedley (Dissection and Fascia - US), Robert Schleip (fascia research in Germany), Julian Baker (Functional Fascia- UK) and Jaap Van Der Wall (Embriologist - NL).

Mindfulness is not a difficult and complicated concept. It is an accessible life-long personal skill. If you master it - it stays with you for your whole life. And is completely free to practise it - you do not require any equipment or special settings. Hi, my name is Theya and I prefer to present myself as a mindfulness guide. I prefer to say that I am not teaching you mindfulness, but I am guiding you, as mindfulness is as unique as everybody is. My own journey to become a mindfulness guide My own journey as a mindfulness guide started two years ago when a friend sent me a small picture with colourful circles and the unknown word “IKIGAI” in the middle. It made me think and for the first time fully understand how I would like my professional career to look like and to fit in my whole life. Then a question came: What should I do exactly to fulfil those ideal pictures? At this time I was part time Forest School practitioner in a London primary school, casual outdoor educator at WWT London Wetland centre, volunteer urban gardener and full time mum… My clear inner vision is that being a mindfulness guide is my IKIGAI – the combination of something I love, something the world needs, something that resonates well with my values, skills and personality and possibly something that I can be good in. Mindfulness has changed my own life for good and that is where my inspirations came to share it with others.
