Open to any BBUK Captain’s/ Leaders in charge who have fully completed the registration process. Safeguarding and Managing Risk e-learning modules must be completed prior to attending the training course. By the end of our time together you will be able to: Feel confident in your role as Captain or Leader-in-Charge. Recognise your responsibilities in creating a safe environment in the Company, including Safeguarding and Managing Risk. Know where to find the resources and support available to deliver quality youth and children’s work in the Company. Understand how to establish and maintain positive working relationships. Identify and manage the development and sustainability of the Company. Safeguarding is a term that describes the work and processes undertaken to minimise and manage the risks involved to vulnerable children. During this training video you will hear many facts, figures and details surrounding the risk to children, the types of abuse suffered, how to recognise the signs of abuse and key safeguarding legislations put in place to minimise the abuse of children.

This course looks at the initial alert and the decision-making process in deciding to make a referral, taking into consideration consent and capacity of the alleged vulnerable adult, keeping them at the centre of the decision-making process. How and who to refer to and the different types of response you could expect.

To increase your awareness and understanding of what safeguarding children means, in order to increase your confidence to enable you to make a positive contribution towards the process.
