We feel as though there is a lot of pressure on young people to make the correct career choices yet so many still do not have the tools or access to make informed decisions. Lack of access to people from different professions means that young people do not know what certain professionals do or what it takes to get there, and a lack of confidence means that individuals do not put themselves forward for roles that they are absolutely capable at achieving - with a little hard work of course! Breaking Through Careers would like for people from all backgrounds to have the opportunity to end up in a career that is truly right for them. We will have succeeded if just a few more people from any and all backgrounds: Discover and understand a profession that they either a) have not had access to, b) have not taken the time to explore, or c) would otherwise not have heard of because of their upbringing or environment. Know what is required for them to enter that industry. See themselves in other people currently in that profession, giving them the confidence they need to put themselves forward.

Skills4Reform is a Social Enterprise and our aim is to provide employability skills training, support and guidance to prisoners and ex-offenders of any age. We work with prisons to identify individuals due to be released within 3 months who genuinely wish to change and work. Upon completion of the programme we help them find meaningful employment or apprenticeship placements, through our partners and networks. Our objective is to reduce re-offending, rebuild lives and rebuild communities and we do this by adopting the following core principles: Building confidence Empowerment & Accountability Support through mentoring Training With high unemployment rates in the UK, the statistics for ex-offenders finding employment are bleak. According to government figures, 46% of adult prisoners re-offend within a year of release, costing UK taxpayers £13bn a year. Skills4Reform has started to establish and build itself nationally with a network of supporters with its roots based at HMP Thameside, London operated by Serco Group Plc. Skilled facilitators deliver structured sessions and over the last three years Skills4Reform have: Developed and designed a programme which covers a number of topics such as: - Building Confidence - Communication Skills - CV & Interview skills - Presentation & Networking Skills - Money Skills

Judo can be many different things to different people. It is a fun sport, a martial art, a discipline, a recreational sport, a means of self-defence or simply a way of life. It can be all of these and much much more. Kodokan Judo comes to us from the fighting system of feudal Japan. Founded in 1882 by Dr Jigoro Kano, Judo is a refinement of the ancient martial art of Jujitsu. Dr. Kano, President of the University of Education, Tokyo, studied these ancient forms and integrated what he considered to be the best of their techniques into what is now the modern sport of Judo. In 1964 Judo was introduced into the Olympic Games and has stayed there ever since. Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or take-down an opponent, to the immobilise or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Judo is practised by millions of people throughout the world today. People practice Judo to excel in competition, to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence, and for many other reasons. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it. Judo also helps children to build their self-respect, enhances their confidence, teaches then discipline and most importantly allows them to make new friends. Anvesaka Yoga & Aerial aims to turn the boring gym treadmill routine in it’s head, by making exercise sociable, full of laughter and above all, enjoyable. Established in 2015, Anvesaka Yoga & Aerial is a leading provider of Aerial Yoga classes in the North East of England. Amy discovered yoga after a very premature birth and prolonged hospital stay of her eldest child, her yoga practice provided the necessary space and tranquillity to get through the anxious early years. Following the birth of her second child and subsequent redundancy, Amy decided to retrain as a yoga teacher, to try to bring the joy and peace that yoga has brought her to as many people as possible. Our foray into aerial began in 2015, when Amy tried her first aerial yoga class, and immediately went home to find out the requirements for teacher training! A few hours later her course was booked. From here Anvesaka Yoga & Aerial was born. Anvesaka Yoga & Aerial developed from this modest foundation of one person on Teesside to a network of more than 20 teachers covering the North East of England by early 2020. Our range of classes have grown as well, adding in more variety of aerial equipment styles over the years to offer a full range of classes to everyone looking to elevate their fitness practice, as well as yoga for schools, corporate settings and festivals. Teacher training is largely self paced from your own home, with one face to face training weekend and assessment.
