<p id="isPasted" fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">In this workshop, you will be learning the art of blotted line mono printing, which was frequently used by Andy Warhol for his commercial work in the 1950s.&nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Mono printing is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple originals.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The blotted line technique combines drawing or tracing and printing and is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.&nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">What I really love about the blotted line technique is the fact that it allows people who think they can&#39;t draw or are very new to drawing to create a beautiful ink drawing.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Although this technique involves the tracing of a source image, due to the student&#39;s very individual way of holding the pen and tracing the image, the finished print will be unique to them. The course starts with the design requirements for an MPD operation. It covers all MPD methods, including constant bottom hole pressure and mud cap drilling operations. It also includes all of the rig types - both onshore and offshore - and MPD. MPD equipment is presented in detail and the design aspects of the well are also examined.</p>

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Your expert course leader was born and raised in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He holds an MSc in Drilling Engineering from The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and has over 39 years of oilfield experience. He started in the industry back in 1977 as a Mud logger before becoming a wellsite drilling engineer in 1980 working mainly in the Middle East and West Africa. In 1988, he joined Shell in in the Southern North Sea. In 1995, he joined Smedvig in Norway and worked on a number of deepwater wells as well as on underbalanced drilling operations. In 1999, he started Leading Edge Advantage in Aberdeen and worked in coiled tubing, underbalanced and managed pressure drilling. In 2004, he joined Weatherford as Regional Engineering Manager in Singapore and developed the first ultra deepwater MPD systems. In 2010, he joined SPT Group specializing in well control and hydraulics modelling. SPT Group was later acquired by Schlumberger in 2012. At Schlumberger, he was Drilling Adviser, with a focus on well control, relief well planning and MPD. During that time, he was also an instructor for NExT teaching numerous well engineering courses. In 2015, he joined Wild Well as Engineering Manager in Asia and in February 2017, he became an independent consultant concentrating on provision of drilling engineering training. He has written and presented numerous papers and authored several chapters in the SPE Advanced Technology books. He is an active committee member and speaker on numerous SPE Workshops around the world.</p>

Through our four-week, live online workshop series, delivered via Zoom, you’ll discover practical tools to bring more calm and happiness into your daily life.

Have you ever said 'They really push my buttons' or 'I can't stand it when people...'?
That's the sound of you being 'hooked'. We all have values that we want to live by, and when they are challenged, that's when we are most likely to engage in a conflict. 
In this online workshop, Gemma will teach you the conflict hooks model so that you can identify your common hooks and how to handle them to reduce or prevent conflict.

She is based in Cheshire and specialises in mixed media textile pieces, taking inspiration from a variety of sources and particularly interested in the way societies created a series of visual symbols to represent the things which were important to them. This course has been designed to give you a taste of what it is like to study with us virtually, as well as giving you tailored support for your university application. You will get a virtual art university experience, and a chance to meet some of the lecturers for the subjects you are interested in studying.
You’ll get an insight into how our January-start degrees are taught, how you submit work and how you can develop your skills. This course has been designed to help you feel equipped to commence your studies in January 2025, on one of our January-start degrees.
SCHEDULE
Each of the below sessions will consist of a lecture, workshop or project alongside the chance to ask any questions about making your application..
Registering will include all 3 sessions. You will need to be logged into the course on the following dates and times:
Session 1 - Wednesday 16 October 2024, 3 hrs / 8:45am - 11:45am
Join us for an exciting and engaging workshop led by published children’s book illustrator and author and Arts University Plymouth lecturer, Jack Viant. This interactive session promises to be both fun and educational, featuring hands-on activities and elements designed to keep you fully engaged.

Session 2 - Wednesday 20 November 2024, 3 hrs / 8:45am - 11:45am
Experience a live lecture from Jason Hirons, our Course Leader for Distance Learning. This interactive session will give you a preview of what it's like to be part of our dynamic online distance learning course, engage with course content and ask questions in real time.

Session 3 - Wednesday 18 December 2024, 3 hrs / 8:45am - 11:45am
Enjoy an informative and engaging session led by the Adam Levi, our Senior Learning Technologist and all-round expert in tools for digital education. In this session, you'll gain valuable insights into navigating Canvas, our online learning platform, ensuring you feel confident in managing your coursework, accessing resources, and participating in discussions. You'll also have the opportunity to engage in an interactive workshop designed to enhance your learning experience.
As a student on one of our January-start degrees, you’ll join a truly global community of creative learners. This hybrid degree allows you to complete your first year of studies remotely by July 2025, before taking a short summer break and then continuing straight on to the second year of your chosen degree, studying in-person at our city-centre Plymouth campus, in September 2025. This option is available for the following degrees:
BA (Hons) Commercial Photography
BA (Hons) Fashion Design
BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Marketing
BA (Hons) Graphic Design
BA (Hons) Illustration
BA (Hons) Interior Design & Styling
REQUIREMENTS
To apply you will need to meet the following criteria:

Aged 18-70, at the start of the course
Interested in studying at Arts University Plymouth in January 2025
Want to explore higher education opportunities at an undergraduate level
Planning on studying in the UK on a student visa (if not a UK citizen)
Able to meet Arts University Plymouth Language requirements, more information on this here (International students)
Eligible for at least 3 years of student funding or looking at self-funding a Higher Education course. (More information on if you are eligible can be found at https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/who-qualifies.)
