Redwood Scholars Tuition are independent educational centres where a friendly team of qualified and experienced teachers provide support to students who need help to become independent and successful learners, whatever their age and aim. We strive to build confidence, raise self-esteem and motivation through knowledge and skills development. As teachers and Montessori philosophy followers, we strongly believe that children are naturally inquisitive and wish to learn. It is just that happy and well guided students do it quicker, enjoy it more and, overall, achieve better results. At Redwood Scholars we work with bespoke resources as well as carefully selected range of supplementary teaching materials to give our students the best learning experience during their 80 minute tutoring sessions, classes for home schooled students or Montessori workshops. All our resources are up-to-date and reflect current requirements of early years, primary and secondary school curriculum. To ensure success, our teachers explore psychology behind children - their behaviours, learning journeys as well as emotional and social development. Education and learning are an enormous entity which requires a great deal of skill to impart knowledge to others successfully. This is why we make sure that our teachers are professionals who share our passion for discovering and developing potentials in every child who attends our centres. Being OFSTED registered as a child care provider, we follow OFSTED guidlines for policies and best practice to ensure safety, security and high quality provision for all our students. All our tutors are DBS checked. This not only should give you peace of mind but also save you money as there are schemes available to contribute to the cost of your child attending our centres (their availability will depend on your individual circumstances).

Parents/guardians are within their rights to seek consent to withdraw from the roll of a Highland school for home education rather than having them taught at one of the local authority schools. Who is entitled to home education? Any parent/guardian can choose to do this as long as they provide an efficient education that is suitable for the age, ability and aptitude of the child. Parents/guardians have a responsibility to seek consent from the Highland Council to withdraw from the school roll for home education (if in attendance at a Highland Council school). In line with the Scottish Government guidance, we aim to issue a decision within 6 weeks of the receipt of the original request. Until consent is granted the young person remains on the school roll and should attend school. If a family have moved into the Highland Council area from another local authority area in Scotland or another nation, the parents/guardians do not require the consent of the authority for home education. However, we do encourage families to contact us as the advice we can provide and the information about services for school aged children provided by the NHS, further education providers and Skills Development Scotland is found to be very helpful by families home educating. UBUC was established during the 1960/61 academic year. Considering that scuba gear was invented in 1943 by Jacques Cousteau, much has changed in 50 years! The club ranges from new trainees to seasoned divers whose expertise is vital to the smooth running of UBUC. One of our main goals is to provide affordable scuba diving training. Every year we train around 30 divers and provide a number of internationally recognised qualifications from beginner to advanced diver levels. We are affiliated to the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), and therefore issue qualifications according to BSAC standards. Over the last few years, we have gained a number of BSAC awards recognising our achievements in training. The club is overseen by 10 committee members. However, being such an active club means we rely on help from everyone to organise trips, help with equipment maintenance and assist with training. We especially encourage aspiring Dive Leaders to organise their own trips. We are also a friendly and sociable bunch! Our dedicated Social Secretaries runs most of our social events, including diving talks, boat pub crawls, trips, and much more! Anyone, however, can organise an event. BSAC Affiliation UBUC is a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club. We are branch number 9160. Scuba Diving Training We offer extensive training for SCUBA diving, anywhere from beginner to advanced diver levels. We teach using the standards of our diving agency BSAC. In addition, we run Skills Development Courses (SDCs), Instructor Qualifications and also the occasional Freediving course.
