Our aim is to make a difference to the lives of children and young people aged 8-18 years with a range of needs. Aspire Scotland is part of Aspris Children’s Services and offers specialist care and/or education services across Ayrshire. We support children and young people aged 8-18 years with a range of complex needs. This includes an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), child sexual exploitation (CSE), emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), and other behaviours that may challenge. At Aspire Scotland, we provide high quality care and education in safe and nurturing environments, taking full account of national standards and quality indicators. This is further emphasised by six of our children’s homes being graded as either ‘5 – Very Good’ or ‘6 – Excellent’, during their latest inspection from the Care Inspectorate. We work in partnership with families and Local Authorities to achieve the best possible outcomes. The range of services that we provide at Aspire Scotland include: Bespoke care packages and individually tailored education services provided by Aspire Scotland’s education facility, based in Kilbirnie. The campus also includes a café. Residential homes with rural environments, offering therapeutic and spacious surroundings. Experienced staff teams with staff ratios reflecting the needs of the young people, offering various levels of support and a 24-hour waking service. Access to external community support, including CAMHS, therapists and counsellors A wide range of planned activities and work experience opportunities.

Cultures CIC was formed by Sade Sangowawa and commenced trading as a Community Interest Company (CIC) In 2007. Based in Stockton-On-Tees, Cultures CIC works with individuals and groups from BME, migrant and Refugee communities to improve social, economic and cultural inclusion and build social cohesion. The company is involved in a number of long and short term community projects across the following themes: Improve employability; Promote equality; Break down barriers; Improve access to services and; Delivering cultural awareness raising seminars and conferences. Since 2007 Cultures has become a valued community resource and has established its credibility as a public service provider for out-sourced service provision. We have also been very successful in delivering a number of other projects for job Centre Plus, Learning & Skills Council and Stockton Borough Council via the Five Lamps Organisation and The Taste of Africa event, which is now considered a regional event with an increasing audience, attracting people from as far as London. We understand the difficulties faced by migrants when they migrate to another country and through our services we aim to help them understand the new culture and way of living, the public service structure and their rights and responsibilites. Our strategic aim is to ‘Advance the economic, social and cultural integration of disadvantaged BAME, Refugee and migrant Communities’. Our staff and associates have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the specialist fields within which we work.

As a Development Education Centre we are an independent, affiliated member of the Consortium of Development Education Centres (CoDEC) www.codec.org.uk/. We support schools and communities, locally and internationally, to nurture values and critical thinking skills needed to promote personal, local and global change. We have over 30 years of experience collaborating with organisations, teachers, youth workers and community educators to make sense of a complex and rapidly changing world. The learning methodologies that lie at the centre of our approach always: Produce a more outward looking mindset through exposure to global contexts and multiple perspectives. Develop creative and critical thinking. Increase self-awareness through reflexive questioning of values and ideas. Give the confidence and skills to take positive action.
