During this event, our experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating a beautiful tote bag. You'll learn essential sewing techniques, such as measuring, cutting, stitching, and finishing. Relax and enjoy the process of creating something beautiful with your own hands You will also get: - Fabric to make your bag and all other necessary materials and equipment - Expert guidance and tips from your workshop host - Email support for the next 3 months What you need to bring: - Your own sewing machine with its power cable Please make sure the machine works and has been recently serviced. Please bring along the manual and all the accessories that came with it including spare bobbins and the bobbin case if applicable. Don't worry if you don't have a sewing machine, as we have machines you can borrow. - Threads and a sewing kit (you can buy one from us if you want) - Notepad and pen The workshop is limited to 6 people per session. If you want a private group session, please message us with your booking. Note: You need to know how to thread and use your machine. We offer an introduction to sewing machine workshop too, if you wanted to get to grips with your machine. You will receive a confirmation email after booking from our website. This workshop is suitable for adults and kids. What should I bring with me to the workshop? Bring your own sewing machine with it’s power cable if you are not borrowing from us. You can purchase one from us Notepad and pen How many participants will attend this workshop? There will be a maximum of 6 participants at this workshop. Small groups work best as everyone gets a chance to learn and ask questions. Please note: The workshop would be rescheduled if there are less than 3 participants booked for the date. Is the venue wheelchair accessible? Unfortunately, this venue isn't wheelchair accessible. There are 2 short sets of stairs to get to the room. Learn the basics of using a sewing machine in this six week course

This course is ideal for all, from beginners to confident makers. You will learn the basics of leather craft for accessories and be introduced to techniques including machine stitching on leather, hand finishing and hand cutting. You will also be working with the full spectrum of leather types from soft leathers and suedes to a hard sturdy veg tanned leather. This is a perfect introductory course to start your journey into leatherwork and bag making as you will experience the wide variety of tasks involved in the work. In order to complete your bag in a day we will use part pre-prepared components and the bag will be made from a ‘Hands of Tym’ pattern but do not fear there is still plenty of work for you to do. During the day you will be directed by your tutor Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer Georgie Tym to make: A fully lined 'Turned seam' 'W Base' Medium Leather Tote bag with raw edge straps. There will be one small pocket inside attached to the lining The dimensions of the Tote Bag are 300mm x 320mm x 160mm. It will be the same construction as the bag in the photos - please contact for more info or view online Parking available on the drive with easy access via the M40. Banbury train station is a 30 min walk. Trains run from both London Marylebone and Birmingham to Banbury in 50mins. Also well connected to Reading, Oxford, Leamington Spa to name a few. Maximum class size is 4 WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE? There are no additional costs. All leather, hardware and other materials will be included. There will be a selection of leather and hardware colours for you to choose from. There will be lunch served at midday and tea/ coffee breaks throughout. Assume the role of the designer and develop your own ideas into a Summer Co-Ord Set. This is a comprehensive programme where you be learning the process from A-Z; research, illustration, design development to the final product as well as having industry talks along the way. This programme is perfect for the teenager who is curious about fashion and what it takes to be a fashion designer, as well as students with a bit more experience in fashion and sewing. There will be a constant gaze on sustainability and how you can make your process as sustainable and zero-waste as possible. This course is inclusive of male and gender-neutral designs. You will learn how to: • Assume the role of the designer and develop your own ideas into a design • Complete a fashion brief • Work with Ex LFW designer fabrics • Create mood boards and learn why designers use them • Pattern cut, sew and construct your own garment • Take your first steps into the fashion industry You’ll attend: • Talks from guest speakers within the industry • Fashion careers and CV talks • Talk from Central Saint Martins Admissions including portfolio talk and insight into UAL Whilst learning valuable skills such as: • Communication • Fashion design • Fabric knowledge • Embellishment • Accuracy • Machine and hand sewing You will leave with: • Design development sheets • Your own mood boards • An outfit designed and made by yourself • The Summer Fashion School London tote bag • A certificate of completion What You Need: • Students must arrive with packed lunches, snacks and a re-usable bottle of water each day. • We provide all materials and equipment.
