Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting it to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. The class has a maximum of 4 people in it so you get tons of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regulary make their own clothes! I am passionate about teaching people about fit and we will talk about dart manipulation, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments etc. We usually all work from the same pattern but if you want to make something else because you, for example, don't wear dresses, I am very flexible.

Learn how to make really fun and creative bowls from rope and bits of scrap fabric. I will teach you all you need to know and I will supply all you need to get going. It is SO fun and SO versatile! You decide on the shape, size and colours! This is a very practical and hands on class which will see you making stuff in no time. All tools, use of machines and materials are included. The class will finish around 1pm

Learn how to measure, cut and stitch accurate patchwork quilt blocks in this one day workshop. Part of a 4 day quilt course, but suitable as a stand alone class too. This class is a great class to take after the beginners class as the sewing will be mostly straight lines and it will allow you to practice more seams and other skills learned in the beginners class. You will need to know how to handle a sewing machine for this class but it's very much still a class that's achievable for beginners. You will cover design, measuring, cutting, the use of various tools, and stitching.

In this class we will talk about different kinds of wadding and will learn about the quilting together of all the layers with either straight lines or freemotion stitching. Then we will learn to bind our mini quilts (bring the mini quilt tops we created in earlier classes, or bring your own) Wadding and thread all included in the price, as well as a copy of my In Stitches sewing handbook. The Savile Row Academy Advanced Course in Bespoke Tailoring and Cutting starts each September. The course is a modular programme of advanced study modules including; pattern drafting, cloth cutting, fitting and remarking; Waistcoat making; Trouser making; Coat making. Students will complete one three-piece suit and successful trainees will be awarded a Bespoke Tailor’s Certificate.

Learn how to cut and stitch a variety of fun improv quilt blocks in this one day workshop. There will be a further patchwork class on 18th November, a free motion stitching and appliqué class on 25th November and a final workshop on 9th December to learn to put the quilt sandwich together, and bind it.

I will take you through the very cool technique of chickenscratch embroidery, which is done on gingham fabric with normnal embroidery threads. Simple techniques can be combined in endless ways and colours to adorn clothes, homewares, notebook covers, all kinds.
