Having worked in performing arts in one way or another for many years as either a performer,professional theatre producer or teacher, I have a vast knowledge of the industry and the skills required to motivate and educate. The former co-founder and artistic director of AGF Performing Arts Nottingham, for nearly 20 years, I am now solely concentrating on the craft of acting and teaching students who wish to pursue a career in this field as well as those wishing to build on their confidence and self esteem. Acting workshops as well as being fun and inspirational will include : Improvisation, scene study, Shakespeare, physical theatre as well as Sanford Meisner, Konstantin Stanislavski,Michael Chekov, Moni Yakim and Uta Hagen techniques. In addition, because I believe that if you are thinking of a vocation in the arts, it is important to know the industry and have a knowledge of plays, films, directors, writers, actors, theatre practitioners and drama schools etc, at The Acting Studio there will also be workshops in play-reading, film study and contextual analysis, as well as the opportunity for discussion and debate within workshops……. An ‘informed and intelligent actor, is a better actor!’

CET’s aim is to enable these adults to access foundation or entry level education and training which will provide them with new skills and increased self-esteem and confidence with which they can use to progress to employment, further education opportunities, or improve career prospects. Indeed we are a “Stepping Stone” and in some cases a “life line” for people looking to build a more rewarding future, because we provide accessible education in an environment which is both non-threatening and culturally empathetic.

Derby City Boxing Academy was founded in February 2009 by Midlands A.B.A. coach Alex Neave. The club itself is in a prime location for the younger society with its main aim being to promote boxing and provide a facility for those whom participate, helping them become responsible citizens and respecting their local community. Our goal is to provide fair guidance and support to all, regardless of race, disability or gender. The club is affiliated to the Amateur Boxing Association of England (A.B.A.), which has set guidelines that all club members must follow. Amateur boxing is recognised worldwide as a contact sport, teaching the techniques and skills required to become an Amateur boxer under qualified instruction and supervision. Having inherited the desire to engage in combat from the beginning of man-kind, boxing enables individuals to release built up aggression, and provides a release from the every-day stresses life brings Derby City Boxing Academy prides itself on the environment it operates which is based on camaraderie and encouragement between all members. Our first priority is the well-being of our boxers and their development as individuals. Our members come from many different cultural backgrounds, both male and female and the club aims to build self-esteem, confidence, improved communication skills, respect, self-discipline and life skills.

I qualified as an infant massage teacher in 2016 and extended my qualifications to deliver yoga, sign and messy craft sessions. I juggle this with being a mother to my daughter. Before taking time off to have my daughter, I worked as a teacher and Head of Department in a Secondary school for almost 9 years within; Health and Social Care and Nutrition, at GCSE and A Level. During the first year of motherhood I was diagnosed with postnatal depression, which was a little bit of a shock. I had no idea about it, had never heard of it, didn't know how I would be treated and helped along and I had hundreds of questions. Eventually once I was able to find the correct support for me, things improved and I felt safe. My whole experience as a first time mum suffering postnatal depression led me down this path. I was keen to help and support other parents and carers, creating fun sessions for all who attend, to support all individually who attend, in all aspects of health. Making individuals feel safe, supported and cared for whilst enjoying fun and engaging sessions. The thing I love about baby massage and yoga, is the way it can help new parents build or enhance that bond with their new born and it is very instant - I can literally see it happen before my eyes, and this is a very special time. I love the way all of our sessions helps both parent or carer and the child. It is so wonderful to see all who attend go one a journey. Giving individuals the skills, the confidence and self-esteem to re-create sessions at home. I hold the Touch Learn International Qualification in Infant Massage, Baby Yoga and Baby Signing and a full and valid first aid certificate as well as a yearly updated DBS
