Discover the heritage craft of chair caning in this hands-on one day course. Together we will weave a small frame for you to take home in the traditional 6 way caning pattern.  Class sizes are limited to 5 people so if you are coming with friends it's best to book early and together.  If you are buying the workshop as a gift a gift certificate can be issued on request (further dates in the New year yet to be released).  This is a one day workshop 10am till 4pm including break for lunch.

Continually learning from indigenous perspectives and traditions, I hope to introduce others to the wonders of ancient crafts and the absolute superiority of things made in this way. All workshops run in various comfortable locations around East Dorset You can be guarenteed a fun, informal & highly engaging day with instructors who are masters of their craft.

Here at explore the great outdoors we offer a wide range of outdoor courses. So, whether you are wanting to learn about living or surviving in the wilderness then our Bushcraft and Survival Skills course is a must. But if on the other hand you are looking for something different or just want to learn a new Skill or Craft, we have a variety of courses to suit your needs. Why not check out one of our Woodland crafts, Green woodworking or Rural craft courses such as traditional Rake Making, Charcoal Making or Spoon Carving the Scandinavian way. Our instructors are very passionate about what they do and look forward to sharing their knowledge with you. Our course sizes are kept small so that you receive a great hands-on experience with a guiding hand and all within a beautiful woodland setting or at our indoor training facility by the Kennet and Avon Canal near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

The New Forest Agricultural Show Society The Society is run as a charity whose objectives are to: promote and encourage agriculture, forestry, rural crafts, equestrianism and horticulture in particular to advance education in agriculture and allied industries, in forestry, in equestrianism and in horticulture and to promote the breeding of stock. This is achieved through the holding of the annual New Forest and Hampshire County Show, our brand new education project and activities at New Park.

Riverside Project was originally founded and established in 2016 by Tania Davies and Peter Collins to showcase the benefits of managing the environment through the use of traditional countryside conservation skills and rural crafts. A microcosm aiming to demonstrate how working alongside nature would allow wildlife and flora to thrive, whilst harvesting timber from the coppice and using other natural products to produce handmade items to sell to support the work of the project, alongside our small flock of rare breed Jacob’s sheep and Bella the Shetland pony

We offer secluded luxury camping in one of two yurts and four beautiful log cabins. We also run a wide range of traditional woodland craft courses throughout the year. The site extends to approximately 6 acres, of which 3.5 acres is made up of ancient woodland. We are creating a Forest Garden, an innovative and highly productive way of gardening where an open woodland ecosystem is created using a mix of both common and unusual plants, trees and shrubs - most of which are edible! Forest Garden Shovelstrode is the brainchild of Lisa Aitken and Charles Hooper who both share a passion for horticulture, self sufficiency and the firm belief in the need to preserve our heritage in traditional rural crafts for future generations. The project was conceived in 2009 whilst Charles was being filmed on the Greenwood episode of BBC TV’s programme Mastercrafts and Lisa was simultaneously learning about Forest Gardening. Since opening for business in 2010, the Forest Garden has taken shape and many guests have visited to either enjoy a yurt or cabin stay, or have taken part in one of our woodland crafts courses.
