Welcome to Love Outdoor Learning. We help children grow, develop and learn whilst they connect with their natural environment.Love Outdoor Learning was founded by Carol Murdoch. She is a teacher who quickly discovered the magic of taking learning into the playground and beyond. With almost twenty years of working in education, she has experience teaching in primary, severe and complex schools and ASD bases. Throughout the years’ Carol has and is working on wide range of training. This includes a Master in Learning for Sustainability (with an outdoor learning focus), Lead Teacher in Outdoor Learning, Woodland Activity Leader Training and also Forest School training (level 8 FOLA). She is also set to complete her Coastal Activity Leader Training in July 2022. She Carol loves to support schools by providing training, advice and resources helping teachers break out of the classroom and deliver learning outdoors. Carol is one of the countries leading educational consultants supporting schools in Scotland, the UK and across the globe. She delivers training, presents keynote speeches and is passionate about helping schools develop high quality outdoor learning.

We were the first educational service in the UK (established back in 2016), to offer a growing library of over 1,500 high-quality resources, bringing together: Outdoor Learning; Forest School; Coastal School; Bushcraft; Environmental Education; Field Studies; and Outdoor Skills, all linked to the curriculum. We also offer a unique and exclusive 10-year curriculum for Outdoor Learning: The Pioneer Scheme © Our resources can be adapted for all ages, abilities, outdoor locations, and can be used worldwide. We are a husband and wife who are passionate about high-quality education, the outdoors and the environment. We strive to run a professional, friendly and value-for-money Outdoor Learning family business. Alex writes all of the educational content herself. She draws upon her vast educational and outdoor qualifications, experience and knowledge to bring you exceptional and innovative resources. Alex has over 20 years of experience as a qualified teacher and so understands what schools really want and need, and how they can logistically work across a variety of educational settings and age ranges. She also has over 14 years experience in a variety of outdoor qualifications and roles, giving the expertise and fine details, which show in our resources.

The Midlothian Council Learning Service is now closed. Thank you to all the Midlothian Education establishments for the amazing support and enthusiasm for supporting this approach to learning over the lifetime of the service. Over just the last 10 years alone a fantastic +24,500 pupils had an outdoor learning experience and 3600 staff received training with the service. The store function will remain open through 2018-19 to help support schools and practitioners who continue to use the outdoors as an approach to learning to deliver CfE experiences & outcomes and wider achievement awards. A range of equipment and resources are available to borrow/hire to support leaning activity. teve England Outdoor Learning was founded by Steve England, Conservation Educator, Horticulturist and Historian. Steve has extensive experience of working with schools, community and youth groups across Bristol to engage young (and older) people in outdoor learning and has worked in Stoke Park Estate for more than 40 years. Steve is a multi-award winning outdoor learning professional whose work is well-respected in Bristol and Nationally. Steve England Dogs In 2013, Steve was inducted into the Bristol Walk of Fame at Bristol Zoo in recognition of his work as a local conservation educator. In the same year, Steve was runner up in the UK’s ‘Council for Learning outside the Classroom’s’ “Lifetime Contribution to LOtC” award. He was recently awarded the Avon & Somerset Police Commissioner’s ‘Pride Award’ for his work supporting young people with a wide range of previous skills and experience, and engaging young people in positive outdoor learning activities at Stoke Park Estate. Throughout 2015, Steve has been working with Avon Wildlife Trust on the ‘My Wild City Project’ which aims to turn the whole of Bristol into a nature reserve. Steve is one of the project’s ‘My Wild City Champions.’ Steve has spent his life working in Stoke Park Estate and the nearby Frome Valley, witnessing and contributing to many changes aimed at improving Bristol’s wildlife. Steve continues to volunteer at Stoke Park Estate, supporting Stoke Park Action Group and other community-based organisations to maintain and develop the park for the benefit of the wider community. This work was recently recognised by Bristol Natural History Consortium which awarded Steve ‘Bristol’s Green Volunteer of the Year,’ in recognition of his ongoing commitment to improving the natural environment.

We run Longtown Outdoor Centre in the Brecon Beacons and HerefordshireSince 1964 Longtown Outdoor Centre has been providing schools and youth groups with adventurous activity breaks from our 16 acre site on the Herefordshire and Monmouthshire border. Off-site activities including Caving, Hill Walking, Rock Climbing and Gorge walking take place in the nearby Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Our 16 acre site is made up of gardens, farmland and woodland with spectacular views over surrounding hills and mountains. Our range of onsite activities include Archery, Rock Climbing Tower, Kayak training pool, Stand up Paddleboarding, Raft building, Low Ropes Course, High Ropes Course plus an internal traverse wall
