I discovered Breathwork a few years ago and I’ve never looked back. After giving birth to each of my two children I suffered from postnatal depression. The first time I took antidepressants. After having my daughter, with the help of a friend who’s a nutritionist, I started supporting my mind and body through what I ate. I began to realise that everything we put into our bodies has a direct impact not only on our health but also on how we feel. Some years later I was introduced to transcendental meditation and I have been practising it ever since. It heightens my awareness of what matters and gives me a greater sense of peace and happiness. Soon after this I heard about a Breathwork workshop in London. It wasn’t something I knew anything about but I wanted to find out more. I was totally unprepared for such a mind-blowing experience, bowled over by how an hour’s guided breathing could evoke such feelings and sensations in my body. Even then I didn’t really understand the impact that a regular practice could have on one’s physical and mental wellbeing over time. But I did feel a real connection with Breathwork and I was curious to find out more. Within the week I had signed up to the training and mentorship programme. Now, after over fifty hours of case studies, several retreats diving deep into my own Breathwork, and a commitment to a daily practice, I am a qualified Breathwork coach. I can see subtle yet life-changing differences, and friends and family have also noticed the transformation in me, particularly in stressful situations. I’m much more in tune with my intuition; I have a deeper sense of calm and contentment, greater clarity and less unhelpful chatter. From being someone who fell into everything in life, Breathwork has given me clarity, focus and direction. Instead of reaching for my morning coffee, my Breathwork practice and meditation clear my head and set me up for the day. I feel passionately that everyone should have this amazing tool available, to help them process and manage life’s daily stresses, and even unravel past traumas. I initially trained for 3 years (500 hours) with the British Wheel of Yoga whilst I was pregnant and caring for young children. Naturally I adapted my Yoga style to suit Conception, Pregnancy, Birth and the Postnatal period. I decided to train with with Uma Dinsmore Tuli in Well Woman Yoga Therapy to help me maintain equilibrium both in my personal journey and helping other women. I have now completed many hours of extra study and training since so I can share Yoga practices with you and help you on your journey.. I was introduced to Yoga as a child, as my mother was also a Yoga teacher. But it wasn't until my early twenties that I rocked up at a random class in London, on my office job lunch break. In fact, it happened way before that. Having children transformed my practice and helped me find solace and interest in the subtler Yoga practices. Stronger postures often felt 'not quite right' especially when my body felt like it was giving up, suffering from pelvic & back issues, fatigue & postnatal depression. I learnt a lot at that time and now I am passionate in adapting Yoga practices to suit every body and mind. I actively promote mental health and wellbeing as well as developing self-awareness. Over the years I have taught classes in numerous gyms, and Schools, and collaborated with organisations such as MIND, MS Society, CoastNet, NE Essex Primary Care Trust and Barnardos.... Being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome then post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety fifteen years ago left me unable to function. I led myself down the holistic route to get my health and, ultimately, my life back, and along the way stepped into my role as a teacher and wellness guide centred around yin yoga. I discovered I have a skill in teaching and happiness in sharing my practice with others. This powerful yet very human journey has so far involved nearly six hundred hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training, including an advanced yin yoga teacher training course and yoga for trauma recovery. My intensive studies have included hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa, yin, yin yang and aerial yoga. Of these, yin yoga was the completing piece of the jigsaw for me. Yin is where my healing finds its natural flow. While I was being treated for depression many years ago, I developed a fascination with how the human brain works and the connection between the mind and body. What my consultant shared with me was incredible, and I needed to know more. This drive to understand more led me into gaining my PhD in Metaphysical Science. The fact that I had gone from being unable to function, to completing a PhD, was beyond any belief I had about myself. I never imagined I would be able to use my brain, and heal my body and mind, to the extent that I have. The intensity and depth of my yoga training and academic studying and the way in which they come together in my sessions has created my unique style of teaching yin yoga. Postures, nurture and calm are combined with the brain science behind the practice and meticulous preparation, bringing wisdom and learning from many different sources into each session. Hi, my name’s Benjamin. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and my work. I have been actively engaged in the field of health and wellbeing for over 20 years. In my teens, I was attuned to Reiki, and since then I have worked with various therapeutic modalities including; Nutrition, Massage, Reflexology, Yoga, Chi Gong, Meditation, Shamanic Healing, Theta Healing, Sekhem, Breathwork, Embodiment, and Coaching. I combine my experience and understanding of all these modalities in my present work. My initiation into the depths of life began as a teenager being alongside my mum whilst she journeyed with a chronic illness that eventually took her life. This was a powerful time and it was my wake-up call to the realities of life and death. Since then supporting awakening, healing, and transformation for myself and others has become my life’s mission. I have been very fortunate to travel the world and train in a diverse range of modalities with inspiring teachers. My offerings are a synthesis of all I‘ve learned and the practices that have empowered me. I know everyone has their own unique set of challenges and gifts and my passion is to support people to find the ways that best support them by connecting with their own deep inner knowing and combining the best of ancient and modern wisdom. I received my Reiki Level one initiation when I was 19 years old, which opened up my energy pathways and enhanced my awareness of healing energies as well as my practice of Yoga & Chi Gong that I’d been doing for many years. In my early 20’s I traveled to India, Canada, USA, and Mexico where I studied Ayurvedic Massage and Shamanic healing techniques. I also met and was inspired by many wise beings including his holiness the Dali Lama at his temple in Dharamsala. In 2005, when I was 25, I qualified as a Rebirthing Breathworker after training with Leonard Orr, the founder, in the USA. I then continued my studies and travels in Europe, Russia, and Turkey until eventually settling back in the UK in 2012. In 2013 trained with Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, the founders of The School of Movement Medicine. I qualified as a Movement Medicine Teacher and Facilitator in 2019. During this time I also trained as a Steiner teacher and outdoor educator as I have a deep calling to serve young people and their connection with nature. In 2020 I joined together my work with Rebirthing Breathwork and Movement Medicine to create the modality that I now work with called Embodied Breathwork. At the heart of my work, is a trust in the power of these intentional healing practices of breathwork and movement, to re-connect us to our true nature; to bring alive the light of our beings, and wake us up to live our full potential and bring our gifts to the world.

At the same time, I pass on my 20 years of experience in seminars and training courses. As the head and initiator, I have been leading the Institute for Health and Consciousness for 15 years. In addition to the diverse activities in my practice, I give seminars and fasting courses at home and abroad and train in various areas. My drive is: Allowing spaces for real healing devotion to man bring light into the dark Remembering what we really are. In my childhood and youth I was a competitive athlete in speed skating. Health problems, early contact with alternative medicine, martial arts, Eastern philosophies, spirituality and meditation and the early discovery of the healing abilities of my hands made me start training as a naturopath at the age of twenty. After successfully completing the alternative practitioner exam and numerous further training courses, I initially worked as a sales manager and trainer at an international wellness company. My inner call guided me to really live my calling as a naturopath, therapist and teacher. This is how the idea for the Institute for Health and Consciousness was born. I have been practicing meditation, qi gong, yoga and ways of conscious living for more than twenty-five years. As an expert in alternative medicine and energy work, I am always researching and teaching what I am from the bottom of my heart. As a father of 4 children and a self-employed entrepreneur, I have both feet on the ground and face the challenges of life. Being a naturopath by vocation and doing what I love.
