The Mark Makers is a unique early writing program for under 5’s devised by qualified teacher and director of Little Learners, Rachel Fay. The programme is easy to follow and can be differentiated within the age range of 5 month to 5 years, although the programme has been adapted to older children and those with additional needs. It is our view that the more that children have fun mark making and developing their motor skills, the more prepared and confident they will be when it comes to writing at school. In our mark making programme, our four Mark Maker characters represent the four main marks that help to make up all letters, numbers, shapes and patterns: a straight line, curve, circle and a zig-zag.

Kathryn Green graduated in 2007, with a First Class Honours degree in Fashion and Textiles. Since then she has been working as a freelance textile designer and lecturer in Further Education. Her life and work experiences are diverse, each one contributing to her development and personal understanding, which she draws on for her textiles, as she states, “I am my experiences.”

Established in 2017, Paradise Works is an artist-led studio community of 38 contemporary visual artists, a project space and gallery in Salford. We host a critically engaged programme of exhibitions and film screenings, showcasing works from new and established artists working nationally & internationally. Paradise Works is host to Division of Labour gallery Salford, and our annual open studios, public projects, residency programme and graduate awards support artists to share their work with people who live, work, or visit the city.
