We believe in community, creativity and the benefits of making with clay. Clay Works Studios Dumfries is a Ceramic/Pottery workshop which provides a friendly, informal and supportive environment where everyone is welcome to come and get hands on with Clay, learn new Ceramic techniques and/or develop existing skills. portrait.jpg LAUREN TAYLOR Lauren graduated from Glasgow School of Art with BA (hons) Ceramics in 2000. Following this she worked for Dalton Pottery in Dumfries & Galloway, assisting people to throw pots and helping with the production of their slipcast ceramics. Whilst traveling in Australia she worked for various potters making functional Pottery on the wheel. On return Lauren moved to Totnes in Devon to work as an Apprentice at Dartington Pottery. Here she gained in depth practical knowledge of pottery workshop practice . Lauren went on to work as Production Thrower for Dartington Pottery until she moved to North Devon to work as Ceramics technician and recreational Teacher at North Devon College. Whilst working at the College she also completed PCET Teacher training qualification. Since the birth of her first Daughter in 2008, Lauren has been mainly working as a mother, whilst also making pots and doing pencil Portraits. Lauren exhibited her porcelain vases as part of Spring Fling 2012, and has exhibited her Ceramics since at Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries. I followed my wonderful art foundation course at Colchester with a degree in ceramics at Birmingham Poly. I founded Dalton Pottery in 1989 with my late husband Geoff and we enjoyed over 25 happy years working together and raising two brilliant sons. They say that the only thing you can be sure of in life, is that it will keep changing. Some of those changes are very hard, and I have found the one thing that always gets me through those challenges is my creativity and the creative community. Chris and Lauren have built such a wonderful resource at Clayworks and I am proud to be part of the team. One of the most rewarding things about spending a lifetime understanding the medium of clay, is passing on those skills to those who are just discovering how meditative and rewarding it is to work with. On completion of his apprenticeship he went on to work for several potters around the UK before beginning to develop his own range of tableware in 2005. In 2006 Chris became potter in residence at the Beaford Arts Centre where he worked until its closure in 2013. In 2009 Chris began studying for an MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art graduating in 2011. It was during this period of study that Chris’ work evolved in to the heavily decorated and layered work seen today. In recent years Chris has won several awards for his work and exhibits across the UK in a variety of galleries and live events.In recent years Chris has worked as lecturer of Ceramics at Plymouth College of Art across the BA and MA programs. After graduating Abbie went on to work for Joanna Bird Contemporary Collections, London. Here she planned numerous exhibitions and oversaw the sale of significant ceramic works. Following this Abbie set up a home studio in Sussex. Here she began to develop her own work, primarily working with slab building and throwing. Becoming a farmer has always been something I dreamed of doing and now I have done it, I want everyone to experience it as I have over the last few years. As of October 2021, The Good Life Projects became a 'Community Interest Company or C.I.C' meaning that, what ever we achieve, our efforts benefit the local community. Our future projects will see us develop the farm to create an Educational Farm which will support all local people with learning difficulties and people from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving the opportunity to learn a whole range of skills from sowing the seeds all the way to cooking with the produce grown.

Natalie Adams is a renowned textile designer who has been in the business for over 25 years. Her designs can be found gracing the accessories and clothing of well known brands and designers such as Paperchase, Nike, The North Face, Next, DKNY, Disney, CK, plus many others. She also is an artist, and has run many workshops teaching children and adults everything creative. Her dream has always been to share her skills and knowledge and she is now able to do this through her latest venture the 'Country Garden Workshop’, where she will be running workshops and tutoring in her new and beautiful studio from her garden in Abbots Langley. Natalie is offering a range of creative art based classes throughout the year. Booking is advised early to avoid disappointment, as the class sizes are small.

Marie Gratton (Beazley) AISTD/ DDI/DDE is the founder and principal of Dance Sensation School of Performing Arts. Founded in 2005, the school has rapidly grown with over 200 students currently attending. Specialising in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre taught by an ISTD qualified teacher. Marie trained at Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead and then went on to further her training at Doreen Bird College in London. Marie worked in many professional shows including Grease, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Piazza dancer at Alton Towers and danced in the show Spirit of the Dance where she toured Far East Asia and Europe. She then worked for 3 years on cruise ships with Thomson, P&O and Festival cruises. Marie has taught for many years at private schools and for other principals and in 2005, she decided to fulfil her dream and start her own dance school. Dance Sensation started with 5 children and now we have over 200 students whom attend Dance Sensation. Marie absolutely loves her job and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches. It’s also very important that dancing is taught by a fully qualified dance teacher who understands the body and teaches dance in a safe environment. Marie is a fully qualified Imperial Ballet, ISTD Modern and Tap teacher and is very proud of her qualifications. We are an exam based school where the children get to take exams in all 3 genres and we also perform yearly shows shannon allen dance teacher Shannon Allen Contemporary and ISTD Teacher Shannon Allen Shannon started dancing at the age of 8 at Dance Sensation and was trained by Miss Marie, focusing primarily on ISTD dance examinations and performing in multiple musical and dance shows throughout the years. She then went on to train professionally at London Studio Centre for their Theatre Dance degree course in which she graduated in 2018 with a focus in musical theatre. During her degree course, Shannon performed as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Martha in Spring Awakening and ensemble/dance roles in The Witches of Eastwick, Little Shop of Horrors and Cabaret. Since graduating, she performed at various venues within London as a dancer, and modelled for numerous styled shoots before pursuing a career in teaching. Alongside teaching dance and musical theatre, Shannon works in a Primary School during the week and is currently in the process of completing her ISTD DDE Modern Teaching exams. Shannon is super excited to be joining the Dance Sensation team and we are so glad to have her back.

My son is a very quiet and shy little boy. We joined the group on a friends recommendation to try and not only toughen him up, but give him confidence as well. He has certainly improved, and the teachers' patience and expertise has totally transformed him. He thoroughly enjoys coming to the group and wants to practice all the time at home. He is certainly coming out of his shell and this has also been noticed at school. Excellent group, excellent teacher, excellent skills, and confidence booster! Would recommend to anyone.

The classes we run at Manor Farm Functional Fitness are all about encouraging young people to be active and moving with good technique whilst having fun. We are committed to instilling valuable lifelong movement and eating habits to all of our young athletes. We will also try lots of fruits or vegetables of a variety of colours to show that healthy eating can be tasty. Educating young athletes about the importance of being healthy should have lifelong benefits. We get to know every young athlete very well and they will all get personalised coaching to help them to improve. Lots of our learning happens through demonstration, coaching cues and lots of practice in fun ways.
