7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.

We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).

Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.

We recently trained a group of sign language interpreters who found the training invaluable when working in medical environments. The sessions are delivered via Teams (2x 2 hour meetings) so are highly accessible, a webcam and microphone are required although not essential. The aim of the course is for learners to develop an understanding of medical terminology in an enjoyable, interactive and informative way so that they are better able to decipher and unravel the mystery of long medical words. It is suitable for administrative staff, health care workers, medical secretaries, managers, Allied Health Professionals, essentially anyone who may encounter medical terminology and wishes to develop their medical terminology knowledge further. We also offer sessions to those requiring an overview of medical terminology to support applications to study medicine, veterinary medicine or dentistry.We can train between 1-30 learners from any organisation. Through our four-week, live online workshop series, delivered via Zoom, you’ll discover practical tools to bring more calm and happiness into your daily life.

Weekly Workshops:  Each week, we’ll introduce and practice a new tool designed to fit seamlessly into your life (just a few minutes a day, I promise!). These are not your typical “luxury spa day” suggestions — because let’s face it, who has time for that?  Instead, you’ll learn sustainable, go-to strategies that you can use anytime, anywhere, to boost your wellbeing, even in the midst of chaos.  You will also receive a mid-week email of encouragement between workshops and printables to help record and track your progress.
Ongoing Support:  In each session, we’ll review your progress, fine-tune your approach, and introduce the next tool.  This isn’t just a one-off workshop; it’s a journey of growth and connection.
Community Connection: You’ll be part of a supportive group of fellow SEN parents and carers who understand the unique challenges you face.  Together, we’ll share experiences, uplift each other, and grow stronger.
