We are a College of Further Education, providing and delivering BTEC Level 2 & 3 extended National Diplomas in Sport (Rugby). Our campus is based at Sedgley Park RUFC, a National Level 2 North Rugby Union club, in Whitefield, Greater Manchester. This is the first college of its kind to be based in a working rugby club, using the ethos and values of the game to help teach and mould the future generations playing, coaching and running this wonderful game of rugby. The advantages to our students are many, such as the opportunity to observe, first hand, how a semi-professional club runs and operates and how multi-discipline services are delivered. Our teams will compete in the AOC Colleges Leagues, competing regionally and nationally in both league and cup competitions. We firmly believe that these values will equip our young people to make the most of their particular skill sets and personal attributes, in order to positively progress into their chosen professional lives. Manchester Environmental Education Network, or "MEEN" as it is more commonly known, is dedicated to supporting teachers, organisations and individuals working to promote environmental education and Education for Sustainability. To achieve this, we use a variety of methods: we run projects with schools, organise networking events, provide a termly newsletter and pool various free curriculum resources on this website. MEEN began life in 1994 as an informal organisation. It was run voluntarily by teachers who wanted to bring environmental issues into their teaching practice. Today, MEEN has become an independent charity. In January 2001 a coordinator was employed to support and build the network. Since then, MEEN has provided a range of CPD services, training sessions and networking events, conferences and numerous projects around sustainability with schools and educational providers. MEEN is now over 20 years old and still upholds its core values: it was set up to support its members and to promote the sustainability agenda within schools and to agencies working with schools. The first edition of Beehive, the MEEN newsletter, was produced in 1994, and despite a few changes in its format, continues to be produced today. MEEN has undergone two significant changes due to the impacts of austerity. Firstly, our remit changed from serving the city of Manchester to cover Greater Manchester. MEEN has always had members from schools in other parts of Greater Manchester so it seemed appropriate, especially as services in the other nine Council areas were being reduced, to widen our remit. Secondly, we now focus increasingly on projects working directly with schools either through the curriculum or working with young people in their Eco Committees.

Founded in 2013, we are a consortium of African and African Caribbean-led supplementary schools delivering high quality educational, social and cultural provision across the Greater Manchester area. Our consortium consists Highway Hope Supplementary School, Grace Incorporation Faith Trust (GIFT) Academy Supplementary School, Highway Hope Social Enterprise, Twilight School at MMU and Nurturing Foundations. Our mission is to build capacity within the community education sector. We aim to: Grow our consortium of supplementary schools across the Greater Manchester area. Share teaching, research, capital and human resources across the consortium. Focus on teaching core curriculum subjects (English, Maths and Sciences). Use digital, creative education and training as well as heritage studies as media for teaching core curriculum subjects. Provide high quality, academically relevant extra-curricular enrichment activities across the consortium. Support volunteer teachers across the consortium with their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Initial Teacher Training (ITT). Support CPD and ITT with high quality community-led research Form partnerships with educational, cultural and social providers to continually strengthening our educational provision within the communities we serve. Expand our programme of community lifelong learning initiatives. Mentor young people in employability and enterprise skills. Develop education and enterprise programmes which include apprenticeship programmes. Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills success at MEaP With our joint responsibilities for teacher training plus curriculum and teacher mentoring, we are very excited about our plans for the Continuing Professional Development of all of our staff. We believe that our school offers unique professional growth opportunities for all of our teaching staff, enabling them to develop high levels of cultural competence and excel in community teaching.
