Shakespeare's Kids was established by Sharon McNally (BA Hons) in 2012 following her studies in both Literature and Language. The objective initially was to explore ways in which quality literature, in particular Shakespeare, could be made more appealing and approachable to young children. Shakespeare's Kids have managed to create a unique experience where children as young as five can not only enjoy the stories of Shakespeare's plays, but actually become immersed in the the experience of becoming a literary character through costume, props, film and musical theatre. Drama, dance, music, film and costume were combined to encourage the children to create, perform and direct their version of Shakespeare's most popular works as well as their own unique stage productions. To date the project has produced short films adaptations of: - Macbeth - A Midsummer Night's Dream - Romeo & Juliet And their own unique historical short films including - The Revenge of Emmy Tot, Scotlands First Female Pirate - The World of William Shakespeare - The Battle of Bannockburn Filming has taken place across a range of locations from local graveyards, to historical sites such as Stirling Castl. From stately homes such as Chatelherault House Hamilton and Bannockburn House Stirling to Colzium Estate Kilsyth. The children have also ventured into stage productions and musical theatre creating their own plays based on literature & film's most classic heroes and villains and most recently they tackled a full scale Broadway Musical, Aladdin.

In 1985, aged 15, and at a body weight of only 79 pounds (36 kg) he took up the sport of powerlifting. He competed as junior lifter until 1989. The 5 ft 6in personal trainer won 11 championship titles from 1986 to 1990 but then retired. In March 2007 he promised his nine-year-old son he would make an improbable comeback after watching the film Rocky Balboa, starring Sylvester Stallone, which was all about Rocky being older but making a ring comeback. In 2007 he achieved a silver medal at the European Powerlifting championships,[2] and then bronze at the 2009 World Championships. Persona has been providing personal and professional development programmes founded on the philosophy of the Person-Centred Approach for over 20 years, specialising in the design and delivery of professionally accredited, post graduate level training in Counselling and Psychotherapy. The central values of the Person-Centred approach are a major influence in the design, structure of the programmes we provide as well as how they are delivered and managed. Our trainers and facilitators are committed to fulfilling their roles in ways that embody a Person-Centred philosophy, principally a trust in each person’s ability to find a way to direct his/her own development, based on a belief in the actualising tendency; the tendency of the individual to grow and develop to their full potential. Persona also provides training at certificate level: a Certificate in Counselling Skills for individuals and bespoke programmes in Applied Counselling Skills for organisations. These programmes focus on the development of intra-personal and inter-personal skills applied to different organisational settings, such as education, healthcare, social work, social care or HR. The Persona Staff Team are all experienced counsellors, psychotherapists and trainers. As facilitators, the team are committed to facilitating the process of each programme by communicating acceptance, empathic understanding and congruence and through these core attitudes provide the learning environment and structure of the course. Our programme are also designed to be accessible for those who have busy work schedules.

Our basic model works in two ways: Community classes for adults age 18 and up are run out of our Shawlands Language Nest, offered on a semester basis, in-person and online for a period of 10 weeks each time. These classes are bookable by individuals through our website here. The surplus revenue from these community classes cross-subsidise our work with older adults, including those living with dementia in care homes, community groups and day centres across Scotland. These care classes are only bookable in partnership with an organisation. If you are interested in this kind of class and are acting on behalf of your organisation, you can book a taster classes of this type here. The Language Nest A picture of students from our 2022 Summer Semester in the cosy Shawlands Language Nest! We run classes for adults of all ages in our very own Lingo Flamingo Language Nest, located in Shawlands, Glasgow, an area known for its vibrancy, diversity and strong sense of community. We still use the same sensory, stimulating techniques to make classes fun and accessible, but these classes are designed for those living without a dementia diagnosis from age 18 upwards. We also continue to emphasise the health benefits and show that language learning can be for everyone. All the money that is raised through the Language Nest gets put towards our work with older adults including those living with dementia. That’s to say, each and every penny of surplus revenue is used to cross-subsidise classes for older adults and those living with dementia across Scotland. As such, the Nest not only acts as a way to change perceptions of language learning, but as means to expand our social impact. It also means that any student joining our flock will not only gain from the benefits of language learning, but can feel good about having created a positive effect on society. Everyone’s a winner.
