We are a charity dedicated to promoting skills training for positive mental health, to enhance everyday wellbeing, increase resilience to, and recovery from, mental health difficulties. We can all learn how to increase our mental fitness by using simple exercises such as breath control and sports mind training techniques. We run training workshops for professionals and provide resources to support socially valuable projects. Currently the charity is working to improve mental health in schools through the Feeling Good for Schools programme and also supporting wellbeing in prisons.

Hi, I’m Kathryn and I run antenatal courses and workshops along with baby and postnatal classes in Edinburgh. I teach weekly pregnancy classes and birth and baby workshops, which focus on combining antenatal education with birth hypnosis and breathing techniques, movement for pregnancy wellbeing and active birth and are a great time of the week to focus on you, your pregnancy and your baby. Weekly classes are a great way to help you enjoy a positive pregnancy and meet up with others local to you and at a similar stage in pregnancy as you prepare for your confident birth. I also teach Tinies and Wrigglers daisy baby classes which as well as offering baby massage, yoga and sensory play are all about coming together with other new parents to meet, chat and learn – navigating the journey into parenthood together. What I particularly love is seeing expectant parents meet at antenatal classes and continue with daisy baby classes until 10 to 12 months postpartum offering a real connection and community and seeing friendships grow. My classes are with you every step of the way, as are the community of daisy parents around you connected in class and online to always be there to support you. For everyone that is looking for evidence based information, delivered live and interactive (both online and in person) in a non judgemental space with other like minded new and expectant parents you are in the right place! As a local Mum of two I know just how much of a huge transition it can be becoming a new parent and I am passionate about supporting parental wellbeing and passionately believe in the value of peer support. We’ve all heard the saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and daisy is all about building your village! I trained with The Daisy Foundation in 2013 and have been teaching for daisy classes for over 7 years working with hundreds of parents and families from throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. I am also a voluntary peer facilitator and lead Positive Birth Edinburgh, as well as being a trained Slingababy Baby Wearing Peer Supporter and a proud member of Edinburgh Birth and Baby. After becoming increasingly overwhelmed with life, Neil William Paterson felt that his only option was to complete suicide and, in a selfless attempt to relieve his family of the constant worry over his welfare, he sadly ended his pain in 2011. In an equally brave action, his mother Donna took what had been a profoundly tragic event and turned it into a positive, founding a charity in Neil’s name which could provide a network of support for those travelling the same lonely path she too had walked along. With support from friends, family and professionals, Neil’s Hugs Foundation became a charity in December 2016, successfully providing comfort and compassion in several different ways.

This year's Festival saw the return to our family hub at City Art Centre and two major new interactive exhibitions, DataSphere and Consumed, alongside a vibrant and varied programme of other events for audiences of all ages in collaboration with our network of amazing partners. Learning Our touring education programme Generation Science has been providing unique science experiences to schools across Scotland for 30 years. In light of COVID-19 restrictions, this year's programme was made up of pre-recorded workshops, loan kits and make-along boxes which were designed to get pupils out of their seats and involved. Secondary schools careers event Careers Hive was hosted this year on Gather, an interactive online digital platform. Over 2,400 students from over 30 Scottish schools took part in the event, which highlighted the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects. Worldwide Edinburgh Science also operates a large-scale international programme of work under our Worldwide arm. It regularly presents events overseas and is currently the Major Programming Partner of the annual Abu Dhabi Science Festival, helping to curate, produce and deliver the event. For international partners, the team at Edinburgh Science provide engaging content, curatorial advice on programming and business planning support, along with expert staff and training for local science communicators. We will advance education by providing access to creative, practical hands on projects and activities which will enhance learning opportunities, health and wellbeing. We will facilitate and focus on developing life skills to support young people with their employability and career options. We will encourage and support the teaching staff at Preston Lodge High School in their personal development and training. We will facilitate and encourage former pupils, existing pupils, Parents, Carers, Community Organisations and Local Businesses to aid and further develop the learning culture created within Preston Lodge High School. We will engage, encourage and provide access to volunteering opportunities in all areas of our work.
