Focussing on a selection of martial techniques you will safely learn and practice all the most common strikes in Western Boxing, Kickboxing and Muay Thai including: hooks, uppercuts, body shots, axe kicks, roundhouse kicks, heel kicks, elbows, knees, and much more. You will also practice holding pads giving you and your partner the opportunity to perfect your technique and really let rip ! We are a charity dedicated to promoting skills training for positive mental health, to enhance everyday wellbeing, increase resilience to, and recovery from, mental health difficulties. We can all learn how to increase our mental fitness by using simple exercises such as breath control and sports mind training techniques. Anne-Claire has practised Tai Chi following the Art of Chi School (L’Art du Chi – Vlady Stevanovitch method) for many years with Laurent Haquin in Edinburgh and various teachers from the school in France. This method is rooted in the ancient Chinese arts of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong. Through gentle exercises, it improves our posture, stability and mobility. The slow pace, gentle breathing techniques and sustained attention we give to our movements helps us experience and develop an inner sense of calm, balance and focus, which are of so much help in our daily life.

As an artist and teacher working predominantly, but not exclusively in Gobeiln tapestry, content is paramount in the development of my work. I aim to create a dialogue between the subject, materials and viewer. While traditional techniques and craftsmanship are important it is the idea, the vision and my hand that defines the work. Growing up in the city, but by the water’s edge, the sea is enormously important in my life. Over the last 35 years it has provided me with a starting point for my creative journey. Whether from personal experience or research my aim is not to create a representation of the seas and oceans but something experienced, a deeply felt personal connection. It is as much a self-portrait as it is a reflection on the sea.

Our school supports students in developing creative confidence and finding courage through a range of icon painting courses and workshops open to students at all levels. Edinburgh School of Icon Painting was founded in September 2013. It is a small school based in the artist hub St. Margaret's House. The school mission is to teach icon painting (writing) to people of all different backgrounds but at the same time maintaining the ethos and essence of it's spirituality. Introducing this unique form of art to students of the school I introduce a way of practising art which is different the other forms of art and it is said to be more then just art. Students learn egg tempera technique which has been used in art for centuries and it is one of the most lasting painting techniques. There are still reasonably well preserved icons from VI Century. Egg tempera involves preparing own paints using egg yolk and dry pigments. Through the whole process of work we try to limit synthetic materials. Using organic materials helps to develop a connection with nature and in consequence with the Divine. Basia Mindewicz - founder and teacher. Born in 1978. Graduated from The Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education, MA and College of Iconography (Policealne Studium Ikonograficzne) in Bielsk Podlaski in 2008. Laura Fyfe is an award-winning writer with short stories, non-fiction and poetry published in literary magazines internationally, including Northwords Now and Butcher’s Dog. Laura has nearly twenty years experience in motivating writers, as well as a M.Ed in Educational Enquiry and an M.Litt in Creative Writing under her belt. She travels Scotland to facilitate writing workshops and adjudicate writing competitions and is a prominent voice in Scotland’s writing community, serving on the board of the Scottish Writers’ Centre and the Scottish Poetry Library. Laura publishes books under her imprint, Figment Books and has published a book as an app as well, ChildsPlay app. She predominantly writes poetry and novels and loves experimenting with new ideas and techniques. Laura is an expert in boosting writers’ confidence, as reflected in her books and audiobooks Wellspring and Magpie Mind which focus on defeating procrastination and increasing creativity.
