Learn how to generate accurate exposures through aperture, shutter speed and ISO control and how/when to apply them creatively. We&rsquo;ll explore some of the other digital settings that are key to understanding and building your confidence with your own camera.Week 2:&nbsp;Creating Put into practice all the camera features discussed and demonstrated in Week 1 on a walk around town. This one-day workshop will introduce you to the history and development of still life and product photography and its use in commerce and fine art. We will look at the work of historical and contemporary practitioners leading to a practical demonstration of still life photography, encompassing the relevant lighting, styling and composition. The day will include a simple product photography and lighting session exploring camera techniques and equipment you can use to create your own images.Please bring along a small object you would like to photograph as part of the day.Morning The day will start with an introduction to the still life genre, looking at its development through photography both as a commercial and artistic tool. We&rsquo;ll then build and light a still life setup &ndash; providing guidance and examples of different lighting techniques, composition and styling skills.Afternoon The afternoon will focus on product photography and lighting for sales. This will include information on equipment and technical requirements, along with some handy tips, tricks and hacks! We&rsquo;ll also demonstrate &lsquo;Focus Stacking&rsquo; &ndash; an advanced technique for combining multiple images. The day will conclude with a practical session, where you will get a chance to work in small groups to photograph the objects you have brought in, we&rsquo;ll also provide some sample objects if required. The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments. 
On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.
PLEASE NOTE: 
Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. 
The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking. 
We require a minimum number of bookings to ensure we can pay our creatives a fair fee, and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund if no alternative date is available.

Our course consists of three days of live instructor-led training as well as an additional 1-2-1 review and coaching session, and costs £520+VAT per delegate. (For schools and colleges who have already completed the training with us and now wish to train further colleagues, we offer a subsidised rate for additional delegates of £390+VAT - please just email us if this is an offer you would like to take up.)
