All Together Edinburgh is a social enterprise with charitable status. It was set up in 2010 after recognising that there were very few training opportunities for people with learning disabilities to learn skills that would help them work within the retail/charity retailing sector or customer facing environment. We wanted to create more training and employment opportunities by delivering a training programme that would not only improve employability skills, confidence and self-esteem, but deliver an accredited, person-centred course that resulted in a recognised qualification. We decided that the training would be best delivered in a charity shop and we opened our first shop in June, 2011. The charity shop is an ideal practical setting to learn an array of skills relevant to the retail field. It also gives the trainee an opportunity to interact with the public and to increase awareness of people with learning disabilities. This is a unique enterprise and is the first of it’s kind in Scotland!

Initially we created training programmes that women could deliver to other women. These programmes were designed to develop self-esteem, confidence, peer relationships and support in classrooms. In talking to young women we found that the classroom was where a lot of the issues came from so we wanted to focus on building a relationship with schools and supporting the issues and inequalities that young women were facing in the classroom. We bring women together to support each other and believe that "if you can't see it, you can't be it". Having female role models is of huge significance to show other women what can be achievable. The services we offer include Circle Time, Mind Body and Soul and SHE Voices. We also recently hosted a popular event, "Embrace It Aw" to showcase the work we have been doing and we had guest speakers from inspirational female speakers which was really well received. My name is Marie O’Neill, I founded Space for the soul in 2018 as a private practice, offering One:one therapy as well as mindfulness-, spiritual- and self development courses and workshops in Edinburgh and online. As a Counsellor and Interfaith Minister I feel that our world is hugely lacking in opportunities for us to become more of our real selves. The focus of most approaches out there seem to be on quick fixes or distractions to help us get on with it, rather than true healing. After nearly 2 decades of working with people I recognise that what we all crave the most is space to connect more deeply with ourselves and that which is meaningful to us, beyond the hamster wheel of everyday life. My life’s work and purpose is to challenge the status quo our capitalist and overly materialistic society and helping people connect with the deeper truth of our humanity through inner healing and development.

Penicuik High School is a co-educational, non-denominational High School serving Penicuik and the surrounding area within Midlothian. The current school building with its imposing frontage has been on its present site since 1937 and the school has a reputation for offering a wide and stimulating curriculum and supporting young people to achieve academically, socially and culturally. Amongst some of its famous alumni are: Sir James Hamilton (the first Dux of the school), the designer of the Concorde’s delta wings, Scotland’s Grand Slam captain, Jim Aitken, Football internationals Craig Paterson and Billy Kirkwood, former Chief executive of NHS Scotland, Malcolm Wright, celebrity stylist to the stars and royalty, Denise McAdam RSM, Rosemarie McIlwhan, Director of the Scottish Human Rights Centre.
