In 2009 Bristol Parent Carers was formed as an independent, parent-led organisation, providing the new way forward. We aim to reach out to more parent carers, involve them in a variety of different exciting ways, build on past good work and continue to provide a voice for all. We are a group of parents and carers of children with disabilities and special needs who live in Bristol. For 20 years parent carers and parent support agencies in Bristol have worked in partnership with the local authorities to shape service provision for children and young people with disabilities and special needs. These initiatives have been successful in bringing about positive changes for parent carers and their children.

House of Imagination provides a range of spaces for children and young people to collaborate with creative professionals -it is a home for improvisation, creativity and innovation and a place to make those things visible to an international audience through research. House of Imagination (HOI) is a research organisation with a focus on children’s and young people’s creative and critical thinking. In practice HOI uses action research to plan and deliver innovative programmes that enable children to shape their lives through creative activity and schools to change their practices through professional development and school-based activity. At its heart is co-enquiry between children, teachers and creative professionals. HOI is driven by a desire for change in both children’s lives and in schools, focusing on an exploration of the possibilities that creativity offers. Children need more opportunities to develop their creativity and to experiment and teachers need more support to integrate these skills. Through research and dissemination HOI provides evidence for change and helps to build a strong cultural ecology that in turn supports children, schools and creative professionals.

344 DANCE SCHOOL is based at DANCE STATION, Alexandra Park, Fishponds, a building comprising 3 fully equipped dance studios, a lecture and music room, changing rooms, rest areas, a studio theatre and a Dancewear shop - KATHY'S DANCEWEAR. Our lessons also operate in rented premises in 8 branches covering the Bristol area:- Church House, Long Ashton The Village Hall, Emersons Green Holy Trinity Church, Bradley Stoke The Batch, Warmley 467c Wells Road, Knowle The Village Hall, Wickwar Children and adults can learn for fun or they can take advantage of the many opportunities offered to them including exams with the ISTD, RAD, LAMDA and LCM; shows; competitions; workshops and masterclasses; summer schools and many other performance opportunities. All our exams are held at our own premises as we are an Approved Exam Centre for all the above examining boards. Whether you dance at Dance Station or one of our branches, the school has a positive, fun, atmosphere to bring out the love of dance and help you get the most out of your lessons. Dance is a performing art and with our beautiful studios and theatres, performance opportunities can be developed to the full. STUDIOS are also available for hire at both our Fishponds and Knowle Branches. Henry's playscheme is our popular childcare initiative based at Horfield C of E School. It is managed by a voluntary committee of parents, who have children attending the School. The committee are always looking for parents/carers who wish to be involved with the running of the scheme. Henry's caters for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. The club is based in our Partnership Room with its own cooking and toilet facilities and separate intercom entrance from the school to ensure the safety of your children. There is ample outdoor play space with both a grass and tarmac area. A light tea will be provided daily. Activities The Play Manager and Room Leaders will co-ordinate the play activities based on the ideas and suggestions of the children attending Henry's. These will include: arts and crafts, sport and games, cooking, entertainment, free play, computer, playstation, television/DVD, quiet corner for homework. Fees The scheme operates Monday to Friday afterschool during term time only. The fees per session are £11.75 per child. There are no reductions for siblings.

BFS has a number of STAFF and VOLUNTEERS who assist in running our forest school sessions, planning activities and preparing resources. All BFS staff who lead sessions alone are fully Forest School qualified, DBS checked, First Aid trained and they hold Public Liability Insurance. They include… ANDY WILSON founded Bristol Forest School in 2004. He trained with the original Forest School cohort from Bridgwater College, and has a wealth of experience from 18 years forest school teaching. Andy runs regular Forest School sessions and parties at both the BFS woodland and in schools throughout Bristol. He also runs Forest School staff training. As Woodland Manager, Andy has successfully transformed the BFS site into a beautiful and accessible educational space; he monitors our ecological footprint through an environmentally sustainable attitude to Our Woodland. SOPHIE BUTLER joined Andy in 2011 and together they expanded Bristol Forest School. She is a trained Early Years teacher and qualified as a Level Three Forest School Leader in 2012. Sophie’s passion for nature and sustainability has grown over the years since living off-grid in an eco village in Hawaii. Sophie established the BFS Pre-Schools, the Saturday Club Minis and Adventurers. She now supports the running of these groups and is responsible for BFS’s policies, website and social media. HANNAH BUSHELL joined the BFS staff team in 2015 following a dedicated volunteering stint and completing her Level Three Forest School. Hannah is an experienced primary school teacher who works part-time in a Steiner Kindergarten as well as undertaking the nature connection course ‘Call of the Wild’. LUCY ROSE HARRIS is a qualified primary school teacher with six years teaching experience. Lucy gained her Forest School Level 3 Award in 2014 and is passionate about promoting outdoor learning opportunities, a love of nature and fun adventures for children. Lucy joined Bristol Forest School in 2017 and, following some maternity time with baby Luna, she is now back in our Pre-School team. LOUISE SPELLWARD is a qualified Horticulturalist and garden designer with a background in Environmental Conservation. Her first experience of Bristol Forest School was as a parent attending with her son; not wanting to miss out on the fun, she decided to train in Forest School herself and completed her Level 3. In 2019 Lou took on the Bristol Forest School Pre-School. Veronika became a qualified Forest School leader in 2018; she started volunteering with Bristol Forest School in 2020 and now runs schools sessions and BFS parties. BESS SPENCER worked as an ‘Access to Nature’ play-worker in inner city London and trained as a Forest School leader in 2018. She now practices and teaches co-counselling and nature-facilitation activities using Tom Brown’s Apache derived techniques. At Bristol Forest School, Bess assists with our school sessions. MELISSA GAULT is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader and is currently studying to become an Early Years educator. She loves getting out into nature as much as possible! Melissa has been supporting Bristol Forest School since January 2018. She began as a volunteer for the Saturday Minis and is now a fully fledged member of the Pre-School team. MILLY BAILEY has an environmental background – she moved from working in an office as an environmental consultant, to the forest – which she much prefers. Milly has a passion for connecting herself and others to the natural world: she is a keen hiker, forager and wild swimmer. Milly started volunteering with Bristol Forest School in 2019 and now works as part of the Pre-School team.
