Born Jayne Elizabeth Fletcher, on the 30th November 1983 and grew up in Wolverhampton, Jayne was born 3 months premature; Deaf, with the doctors giving her only a small chance of survival. 38 years later this is her story… Jayne was born into a hearing family, who have no experience of deaf culture, identity or the language, they believed that Jayne would be fine and fit into normal hearing world and that she would get by . . . . Jayne struggled for years to battle mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, suicide attempts and self-harm, which she believes to be mainly due to communication issues, as so few people around her signed. Jayne spent a lot of educational years being denied access to courses that she had wanted to study such as music, due to her "disability". Her daily life incurred numerous barriers as there is very little access to information for people whose first language is BSL (British Sign Language). The impact of her announcing that she was gay, also resulted in her being bullied, not only for her deafness but also her sexuality.

Having worked in offices before becoming a Personal Trainer, I believe I can relate to and apply nutritional and exercise interventions when working around busy lifestyles and work life. I work with a range of clients: Men, women, office workers, stay at home moms, business entrepreneurs. Many of whom do not have the time or resources to research every training programme or diet to apply. This is why people contact me. For help to get started with a professional who can apply a wealth of knowledge quickly. With a Bsc in Nutrition, Exercise and Health I look to apply critical thinking and research evidence skills to the advice I provide to my clientele. Researching different forms of training and nutrition is part of my continual development along with attending many conferences, seminars and lecturers from leading specialists. My own exercise and training consists of many forms of Martial Arts as well as strength & conditioning. I work by emphasising form and technique in weight training progressing moving towards a higher intensity. In 2018 I debuted in Amateur Mixed Martial Arts. My own goals are to compete again and gain more experience in the sport.

At Bright Pi we are passionate about supporting all those involved with the teaching and learning of mathematics; raising standards and helping all to achieve their best in the early years and primary phases. Based in the Midlands, we form a highly regarded team with wide ranging experience and up to date skills providing support to schools across the UK. The team has taught across the early years and primary age range and all have experience in local authority school improvement working with teachers, leaders and other stakeholders. Having worked as regional co-ordinators for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), Bright Pi maintains a close working relationship with the NCETM delivering their ever-evolving national ‘Professional Development Lead’ programme. We are proud to work alongside other partner organisations including the National Maths Hub Network. We play a key role on the strategic board for our local hub and lead on the Mastery Readiness programme for the Origin Maths Hub. This supports those schools starting their journey in Teaching for Mastery, as well as those developing their practice. Living Well Consortium is the West Midlands’ leading mental health consortium, which consists of over 30 Third Sector mental health organisations. These Third Sector members work to relieve the pressure felt by the medical services, by delivering community-based and community-oriented services that focus on prevention, wellness, recovery, and resilience, in turn building a more sustainable and long-lasting solution. These Consortium Members are the service providers for Living Well Consortium. To deliver this approach using the members’ collective knowledge, resource, and capacity, Living Well UK is the public-facing charity that brings the work of the consortium members to the people of the West Midlands. This charity arm provides free mental health support to people living in Birmingham and Solihull, promoting wellbeing from an individual and community perspective to help find practical solutions to life’s challenges. These include online stress and anxiety courses, counselling and self-help, creative therapies, and CBT, drawing on the knowledge of a consortium of expert members across the city.
