However it must end with performance. But how exactly does one move from the information gained during the breakdown phase to embodiment of the character? It is certainly not a straightforward process and it involves a number of steps. When we are talking about embodiment we mean that our bodies and our emotional instruments must be engaged. So, one way to think about this is that we are moving from the cerebral realm (our understanding of the character) to the physical and emotional. The technique developed by the studio’s founder Beck Emotional Access Technique or BEAT for short bridges this gap between the realm of thoughts and understanding, the physical world of behaviour and the internal emotional world which only you experience but of course we, the audience, sense. BEAT has revolutionising actor training by bridging these realms through a set of intuitive exercises known as the BEAT Scales. Actors trained in this technique find it easy to not only access emotions safely, but to also make fine adjustments which lead to deep and nuanced performances. AN ONLINE COURSE ON SCRIPT ANALYSIS DEMYSTIFY SCRIPT BREAKDOWNS Breaking down scripts can feel arduous for most actors. Script analysis often feels like a piece of homework. It makes total sense then that actors don’t really feel like doing it much. The thing is, the script is the singular most important document for everyone working on a film project. Ranging from the producers and financiers to the production assistants and the people building the set, the script is central in the proper execution of the film project. So you as an actor, really have no choice. And why is it anyway that so many actors feel either a sense of dread, panic or boredom when it comes to working with it? Our 1 day foraging courses are for anyone who’d like to gain an insight into the edible delights of the British hedgerow and woodlands. So if you’re curious about the plants, berries and fruits that grow around you and wonder which you can eat and which you need to avoid, come and join us! On our foraging courses the focus is on edible plants, nuts, berries and fruits commonly found in the hedgerow and woodland.  Note that what we find and forage will depend on the time of year you come along. From the meeting point we’ll take an amble along the tranquil lanes of the stunning North Downs Way and look at common plants, hedgerow fruits, berries and nuts that can be eaten; we’ll collect some as we go.  We’ll also point out any plants and berries that are poisonous so you know what to avoid. From the hedgerow we’ll move into ancient woodland and look at different plants, again collecting as we go. When we arrive at our ancient woodland camp, we’ll have a refresher on the plants we’ve collected before settling in for the afternoon and cooking them.  Everyone gets their own dish to cook and contribute to the banquet. About us and the venue Jack Raven Bushcraft was founded in 2011 and we've been delivering bushcraft, craft and foraging courses since then from our 30 acre private ancient woodland on the Kent Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. ONLINE SCREEN ACTING COURSE GREAT ON-SCREEN PERFORMANCES LEAVE THEIR MARK IN OUR MEMORIES. SOME PERFORMANCES EVEN BECOME ICONIC.  Here at the Studio, we’ve brought knowledge gained across producing, writing, directing and coaching to bear on the question of how to do great, memorable screen acting performances. We’ve discovered that it comes down to the actor’s ownership of the character. Indeed, when we think of memorable or iconic screen performances we find it difficult to separate the actor from the character. There is a sense in which the character becomes the character. Or another way of thinking about it, the actor owns the character. The skill of becoming or owning the character is even harder on screen than it is on stage. On stage, performances rely heavily on the actor’s skill in voice and movement – as well of course their ability to use emotions the way they are supposed to. Mastery over physicality, voice and emotion is often what makes the stage actor memorable in a role. But if the stage actor relies on voice and movement primarily, what does the screen actor need to hold onto to elevate their on screen characters? How does ‘becoming the character’ look like for the actor working on screen? This course is a first step into helping you create memorable characters on screen – character performances you own. Over the course of the 5 weeks, the Online Screen Acting Course will deliver key insights into how to do screen acting the most powerful but also, most efficient way. Key to our practice will be teaching you how to read scripts deeply and helping you see how you can search the text for clues into characterisation that may lie under the surface. AN ONLINE ACTING COURSE ON HOW TO PORTRAY REALISTIC RELATIONSHIPS ON SCREEN AND STAGE Stories are always about people in relationships. Werther they involve real human beings, inanimate objects or ideas, characters in film and theatre are either motivated or hindered by people and things they have some kind of relationship with. Skilled actors are able to ’embody’ relationships convincingly and genuinely. Their interactions with their co-stars are richly layered and nuanced – much like our relationships are in real life. ‘What’, they do and ‘how’, they do things with each other reveals specificity in the relationships they are depicting. This specificity is so important in performance that sometimes it may be a major reason why a particular actor is chosen for a certain part.  As an audience member you may have experienced how powerful relationships work is. You many have found yourself walking away from a performance, saying that the lead actors had ‘chemistry’ with each other – or, that they did not. Despite how key relationships work is, actors are rarely taught how to do it exclusively. As a result, actors feel uncertain about how to properly ‘get into’ or embody a particular relationship.
