An Introduction to Enamelling with Sally Lees Saturday 13th July 10-5pm

<p>The 2-day stained glass course is designed for total beginners to design &amp; create a stained glass panel (40cm x 40cm). I ensure the course is fun, while also giving you the chance to learn a new skill. During the first day, you'll create a design, then cut &amp; paint the glass. We usually provide designs / patterns, but you can also bring your own. We can discuss this prior to the course. On the second day, you'll learn how to do the leadwork, soldering, cementing, and then brushing &amp; polishing the glass. Finally, you'll fit the chain &amp; you can take your stained glass panel away with you.</p>
<p>I keep the stained glass classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots &amp; lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment &amp; materials are disinfected before the start of each day.</p>
<p>You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to design &amp; create the stained glass panel is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required.</p>

<p>The one day glass fusing course is designed to give total beginners an introduction to a new skill, and allow more time to create a larger piece of work. At the end of the day, you will have created a glass bowl, wall hanging or large wave (approx 30cm x 30cm). You should also have had some fun!</p>
<p>I keep the glass fusing classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots &amp; lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment &amp; materials are disinfected before the start of each day.</p>
<p>You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to create your piece of work is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required.</p>

Choose from 3 options of pre cut glass bases and create either a bowl, sculptural wave or hanging panel.<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Round Bowl &ndash; approx. 17cm. &nbsp;Wave &ndash; approx. 32cm across x 7 tall. The main thing to remember is to have fun! You will play with different types of decorative glass elements and learn a little about how the kiln firing will change them. Simply complete your design during the session and leave it at the studio for me to fire, finish and clean up for you. I prepare lots of transparent glass to give you lots of strips to cut to length yourself. Build a design and layer as you like with extra textural details to really personalise your make.</p><p style="color: rgb(33, 37, 41); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(33, 37, 41);">This is a great introduction to glass cutting, anyone can do it with the tips and tricks I&rsquo;ll show you. &nbsp;The main thing to remember is to have fun! You will play with different types of decorative glass elements and learn a little about how the kiln firing will change them. Simply complete your design during the session and leave it at the studio for me to fire, clean and finish with a lovely ribbon, ready for you to display and enjoy. <h2 id="isPasted" style="color: rgb(45, 66, 76); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(45, 66, 76);">What is the course about?</h2><p style="color: rgb(91, 107, 114); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(91, 107, 114);">You&#39;re a maker in your favoured medium - ceramics, wood, metal, glass or whatever - and you want to make electric lamps.</p><p style="color: rgb(91, 107, 114); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(91, 107, 114);">This course will tell you everything you need to know beyond using your existing skills in making the lamp base: design considerations; bulbs, bulb holders and lampshades; wiring; testing; and all the standards and regulations that you need to conform to (covering UK and EU requirements).</p><p style="color: rgb(91, 107, 114); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(91, 107, 114);">Note that although I am a potter, the course is not centered round the use of ceramics (or any other material) in making your lamp base.&nbsp;</p><p style="color: rgb(91, 107, 114); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style=" color: rgb(91, 107, 114);">The course is run over three weekly sessions, 19:00 &ndash; 20:30. Want to make electric lamps, but not sure about the wiring, regulations and so on? If you can make the lamp base (in clay, wood, glass metal or whatever), then this course tells you how to do the rest.

Making Electric Lamps

<p>The half-day glass fusing course is designed to give total beginners an introduction to a new skill...and have some fun! At the end of the 3hrs, you will have created 4 coasters (10cm x 10cm) or fused glass wave (20cm).</p>
<p>I keep the glass fusing classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots &amp; lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment &amp; materials are disinfected before the start of each day.</p>
<p>You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to design &amp; create the coasters or wave is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required.</p>
<p>You'll start the day by creating a design - you can bring your own, or we can provide a design. You'll learn how to cut the glass &amp; then build up your design which is then fired overnight. You will be able to collect your design the next day, or we can arrange to post it to you (you just need to cover the cost of the postage).</p>
<p>Timings: 10am - 1pm</p>
<p><strong>Buying as a gift? Just select the most appropriate date and, if that turns out not to be suitable, the recipient can simply reschedule over the phone or by email (we just need 2 weeks' notice).</strong></p>
