Project planning and risk management (In-House)

By The In House Training Company

Many organisations find that project teams struggle to create and maintain effective plans. Estimates are often overly optimistic and risks go unmanaged until the inevitable happens. Resource managers also find it hard to forecast the likely loading on their departments and requests for support are not provided in a consistent format. This programme has been developed to address these needs in a very practical, hands-on format. Case study work can be based on simulations or on the organisation's current projects for maximum benefit to participants. The aim of this training is to develop and enhance participants' planning and risk management skills in order to maximise the success of project work undertaken by the organisation. The principal training objectives for this programme are to: * Provide a structured, integrated approach to planning and risk management * Demonstrate practical tools and techniques for each stage of planning * Show how to organise and involve relevant people in the planning process * Explain how to use the plan for forecasting and pro-active project control * Identify ways to improve planning, both individually and corporately The course will emphasise the importance of participative planning techniques that improve the quality of plans whilst reducing overall time and cost of planning. The course will encourage discussion of internal procedures and practices and may be customised to include them if required. DAY ONE 1 INTRODUCTION (COURSE SPONSOR) * Why this programme has been developed * Review of participants' needs and objectives 2 PROJECTS AND PLANNING * Why plan? Sharps Awareness-CPD, IIRSM & IOSH Approved

By BAB Business Group

There is a common misconception that sharps injuries are only of concern to medical and care staff. However it is not uncommon for people in other industries such as waste disposal to come into contact with used sharps. In this course we'll start by looking at some statistics relating to discarded needles, then define 'sharps' and look at the different types that can be found in 'sharps litter', ranging from needles, syringes and scalpel blades to broken glass, knives, scissors and nails. It then covers the primary and secondary risks from sharps. It'll look at the responsibilities of employers and how they must use risk assessment to ensure workers safety, as much as possible. Then, the course will take a detailed look at Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and Tetanus There'll be a section on the Chain of Infection, helping you to understand how an infection gets passed on, and what steps can be taken to break the chain and stop the process. It'll look at the probability of picking up an infection from a needlestick injury, and the factors that can affect this. It's important to always handle discarded sharps safely so the course will take you through the equipment you need, including litter pickers, forceps, disinfectant sprays and gloves, along with the correct techniques you should employ to avoid injury. This subject will be further expanded on by detailing the correct sharps handling procedures, including how to dispose of discarded sharps safely, how to remove disposable gloves to minimise cross-contamination, and correct hand washing procedures. Finally, it'll cover how to report discarded sharps and the correct procedures to follow if you're unlucky enough to receive a sharps injury.

CDM Awareness

5.0(3)

By TNA Training & Safety Consultants

This awareness course covers the core concepts of the regulations and details the various roles that are required for a construction project along with the key documents that need to be produced. It starts with an introduction to CDM, then covers some of the parameters that need to be checked when a project is being planned. It finishes by detailing a number of example projects that illustrate how the regulations can be applied.
