WHICH ORGANISATIONS: Brought heads of private sector organisations, public sector bodies, political leaders and leaders of NGOs together into a collective learning space. Their common goal was the desire to have a positive impact on their organisations, their countries and their region. We have held these across Sub-Saharan Africa as well as within the region of Southern Africa, Asia (drawing people from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Malaysia) and Latin America. WHO WE WORKED WITH: Leaders, influencers and manager from a diverse cross-section of sectors and occupations. WHAT WE DID: Offered established leaders from the public, private and voluntary sectors who are at or near the CEO level, an opportunity to transform what they and their organisations do. This was done using transformational leadership theory and experiential learning techniques to enable cross-cultural conversations and mutual learning. This enabled each individual to draw on new techniques and cross sector experiences to develop their thinking and practice. OUTCOMES: Leaders who lead with a greater sense of themselves, the systems they work in and the wider network of leaders that they can both influence and draw on as a resource. Shifted the way leaders see their responsibility and accountability not only to their organisation but to the wider context in which they work. Created a network of leaders who together are committed to make change.

The workshops are an excellent opportunity for adults/children to interact and socialise with their peers, through fun activities. Some of the activities that can be undertaken with the clay are designed so that individuals can have a go, on an individual basis, at creating with the clay. But it can also be used as a group craft experience too, where everyone contributes to a masterpiece. The latter approach is great for building up social interaction within individuals and for them to learn about team work, sharing and cooperation. It’s also such a sense of achievement for them to be involved in a group project and to feel very pleased with their contribution, however small or large. Thus, increasing self-esteem, and self-worth as a result. Taking part in these workshops can have significant benefits. For example, holding the craft tools, wire or scissors in their hands can help with fine-tuning motor skills. It also helps improve coordination and strength which will have long-lasting benefits, such as helping ability to write and use a pen. Working with the clay can also reinforce colour recognition, colour mixing, proportions, sequencing, listening skills and team work, communication and social skills. Workshops are fun and enjoyable for all participants and will help to boost an individual’s confidence in their own abilities.

apex alternative provision education

At APEX Education we offer an education based alternative provision to meet a variety of needs across Somerset , Devon and Dorset. We offer bespoke educational packages that are designed to stimulate and re-engage hard to reach young people for whom more traditional mainstream school, PRU’s or other alternative provisions have not been successful. We believe that for some young people who have a historical negative perception of education our services can be life-changing. Each young person who we work with is seen as a unique individual – who will require a bespoke educational package that will meet their needs. We have forged close links with a variety of other alternative education providers and through these are able to offer Vocational education, Forest School and a variety of Sports based activities. If appropriate our staff will support young people in attending these services and transport can be arranged. Our provision is lead by qualified experienced teachers who understand the difficulties faced by some young people. Our staff are both highly trained and resilient as well as being resourceful and imaginative. They are often able to engage and work with extremely challenging behaviours and achieve positive outcomes. All schools received their Academy Orders on the same date and all converted on the same date. The Trust is a limited company by guarantee and is registered in England. The main purpose of the Trust is to be a place where schools (convertor or sponsor) can work collaboratively to be the best they can be. To support the well-being and development of staff so that they constantly perform to a high level and retention remains high. All schools are currently judged Good by Ofsted and we want to maintain our good judgements and ultimately strive for outstanding status. We are also passionate about enabling the sharing of best practice and achieving the economies of scale across the group of schools’ ensuring the very best value for money.
