The College of International Education (CIE), located in the heart of Oxford, has been offering a range of short courses in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), exam preparation, 1-1 tutorials and a range of content and language integrated learning (CLIL) courses on a number of subjects since 1974. We specialise in small classes which ensure fast progress and attention to individual needs and a team of dedicated staff is always there to offer academic as well as pastoral support. The courses are available face to face and online for high school, university and mature students all year round as well as young learners (10 years old and over) during the summer. The summer school offers a vibrant international experience through communicative language courses and social programmes to help students build confidence and fluency in English, enjoy the beautiful city of Oxford and make friends for life. The aim of CIE is to enhance the academic and social potential of students, while promoting their understanding and appreciation of the diversity of various cultural traditions. Currently, I hold the position of Deputy Headteacher in an 11-16 secondary school with responsibility for curriculum development. Since being a senior leader, I have gained significant experience in leading whole school professional development and the quality assurance of the quality of education. I have been awarded a distinction in a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and in doing so have carried out research relating to curriculum and social justice. Fast Progress Tuition (FPT) is a specialist unregistered Alternative Provision for children who suffer from Emotionally-Based School Absence (EBSA). We build confidence, self-esteem and resilience in a controlled educational setting meaning that secondary complications of EBSA are prevented: education is not compromised and our students are able to take huge steps forward in both social and academic environments. Every child who attends FPT has a different academic pathway and social goals, all of which are developed in parallel with each other, resulting in a child who is active, confident and feels like they can achieve in different environments. Swimming has always been a part of my life. My mum was a swimming teacher so taught me from a very young age. She also introduced me to the open water side over a decade ago and I was instantly hooked. I love everything about being in the open water; from seeking out quick dips in beautiful wild places, to pushing my limits over distance or in races, to swapping stories over steaming mugs of post-swim hot chocolate. I also love triathlon and have been lucky enough to stand on the podium a number of times as well as competing in five age group World Championship races, with a best place finish of 4th. I’m an STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach and Swimming Teacher, a Mountain Leader, and an RLSS Beach Lifeguard. I also have degrees in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience and Translational Neuroscience, and a keen interest in performance psychology and exercise for mental health and rehabilitation. I set up Swim Snowdonia to reflect my personal values and passion for all aspects of swimming. To showcase the many incredible and diverse wild swimming locations in North Wales. To provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for swimmers to improve their confidence and proficiency. To deliver high quality coaching to those wishing to improve technique, speed, strength, and endurance.
