Edinburgh Science Foundation is an educational charity, founded in 1989, which operates Edinburgh Science's Education and Festival programmes. We are best known for organising Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival – the world’s first public celebration of science and technology as a festival and still one of Europe’s largest – as well as our science education outreach programmes, Generation Science and Careers Hive and our community engagement work. Our mission is to inspire, encourage and challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and understand the world around them. As leaders in our field of Science Communication, we work year-round to create and deliver dynamic hands-on workshops and exhibitions and inspirational shows, discussions, debates and performances that continually push the boundaries of public engagement with science. Communication and engagement is at the core of all our work and we strive to ensure that this is embedded in all aspects of our organisation. Festival Our 2022 Festival spanned 9–24 April and explored the theme of Revolutions – lifeforms, lifecycles, revolutionary ideas and solutions to global challenges. This year's Festival saw the return to our family hub at City Art Centre and two major new interactive exhibitions, DataSphere and Consumed, alongside a vibrant and varied programme of other events for audiences of all ages in collaboration with our network of amazing partners. Learning Our touring education programme Generation Science has been providing unique science experiences to schools across Scotland for 30 years. In light of COVID-19 restrictions, this year's programme was made up of pre-recorded workshops, loan kits and make-along boxes which were designed to get pupils out of their seats and involved. Secondary schools careers event Careers Hive was hosted this year on Gather, an interactive online digital platform. Over 2,400 students from over 30 Scottish schools took part in the event, which highlighted the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects. Worldwide Edinburgh Science also operates a large-scale international programme of work under our Worldwide arm. It regularly presents events overseas and is currently the Major Programming Partner of the annual Abu Dhabi Science Festival, helping to curate, produce and deliver the event. For international partners, the team at Edinburgh Science provide engaging content, curatorial advice on programming and business planning support, along with expert staff and training for local science communicators. The Globe at Hay is an independent arts centre embracing an ever-changing arts landscape. In 2008, Hilary Lawson, an already long-standing resident of Hay-on-Wye, saw that the Methodist Chapel at the end of town was up for sale. Thinking that this uniquely creative town would benefit hugely from access to a gamut of arts and events, The Globe at Hay was founded. Believing firmly in the ‘Town of Books’ and our local community, The Globe at Hay pledges to invest in making a space where all can come together to share in culture and expression. We want to ensure that being based rurally is no barrier to exceptional events. In our programme, you will find films, live music, talks & debates, workshops, art exhibitions, courses and opportunities for schools. We believe that in a small community like Hay-on-Wye, an arts centre has a duty to work with its audience and listen to feedback so that the programme is always diverse and relevant. Year-round, we showcase talent found on our doorstep, and we are proud that we have a local audience from the town, as well as people that travel from further afield. Over ten days in May, when the world turns its attention to Hay-on-Wye for the festivals, The Globe at Hay works alongside the internationally renowned music and philosophy festival, HowTheLightGetsIn, on the riverbank of the Wye River. We have an education programme that focuses on creating work that encourages students and teachers alike to explore big topics through creative and experiential workshops. The Globe at Hay is particularly committed to ensuring that our work impacts hard-to-reach young people, and we are constantly exploring new funding streams to carry on this work. At The Globe at Hay, you will find our cosy and welcoming café and bar, run in collaboration with our Burger Me Restaurant. Our talented Head Chef has specially created a variety of delicious burgers guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling. We also have a huge range of side dishes, sharing plates, desserts and specials. Forró Academy is a Brazilian dance school based in London, UK, running weekly forró dance classes for all levels, as well as regular forró workshops and parties.Gino is the founder of and lead teacher at Forró Academy. He has been dancing for over 15 years, initially training as a flamenco dancer, which enabled him to develop a solid individual technique. In recent years, Gino has focused on partner dances, particularly forró, which he was drawn to because of the diversity and richness of the music and the creative possibilities of forró as a dance form. Gino has studied with some of the leading forró dancers in Brazil and around Europe, absorbing the two main styles of forró (roots and universitário) over many years and forging a unique style that combines the two. Through Forró Academy, Gino aims to share his passion for forró with his students, and to help them become confident and skilled dancers. OUR STUDENTS

A professionally-trained graphic artist, I've been selling my illustrations since 2009. In 2011 I opened my Etsy shop, and was amazed by how quickly sales picked up. In March 2014 I gave up my day job and I'm now a full time illustrator. Based in Liverpool, I'm an experienced online seller, with over 100,000 sales over different platforms. I'm Captain of the Merseyside Etsy Team and I've worked as a seller mentor for Etsy on their 2016 "Open Up Etsy" training programme for new sellers. I was selected as an official Etsy Educator for their October 2017 programme for new sellers. I've also been lucky enough to attend Captains' Summits in Cambridge, London, Paris and Amsterdam. I have also acted as an Etsy representative in Brussels, speaking with European Commissioners on behalf of other Etsy sellers. I ran regular workshops from my studio (pre-Covid), and now online, supporting other makers in growing their small creative businesses. I also offer a review service to Etsy sellers, and have written a number of instant download PDFs . I have no "insider knowledge"; I just know what has worked - and continues to work - for me and my business. In March 2018 I decided to separate my illustration business from my business mentoring activities, and Make & Flourish began.

During my time in each of these roles I noticed a gap in the career support offered to women within the creative industry who want to start their own side-hustle or small business. As a trained ICF coach, I’ve successfully coached radio presenters, authors, freelancers, female founders, those working to take their side-hustle to their full-time gig and those transition from employee to business owner. Having experienced the highs, lows, frustrations and excitement that comes with finding a career path that actually excites you, my work is based on sharing my expertise to help you do the same.

Stratford-upon-Avon College merged with Solihull College and University Centre in February 2018. As a major institution of both further and higher educational provision in the West Midlands, our aim is simple – to make significant contributions to the local and regional economies and beyond, by providing high quality vocational education and training for individuals, employers and the wider community. I am Catriona - I just wanted to say a little about me and Yoga. My yoga practice started more than 25 years ago. I became impassioned with yoga, when I realised the holistic benefits of regular practice - how Yoga looked after all of me, not just my body, but also my mind and emotions - a yoga tool kit that I could use wherever I was at any one time. I found yoga extremely useful for dealing with everyday stress, especially the breathing techniques that yoga has to offer - pranayama. I finally had an opportunity to explore yoga further in 2016 when I attended a foundation course with The British Wheel of Yoga, which I found hugely enjoyable, I immediately started training with BWY and completed their 500 hour teacher training diploma. I have been teaching yoga since 2017 here in Langholm, a small town in the beautiful Scottish Borders. We are very lucky to be surrounded by lovely countryside and getting out in amongst nature is inspiring and helps me to re-connect to what’s important. My interest in yoga has reminded me that I love to learn and so I continue to attend workshops and additional training to inform my teaching.

olihull Stagecoach opened in 1997 and many of our students have gone on to achieve great opportunities in TV, film and professional touring productions such as Les Mis, Matilda, Scrooge and many more. We pride ourselves on offering a safe environment where children can receive quality training in the performing arts. We welcome children with no previous experience and all we ask is that they are enthusiastic and keen to learn. Students participate in all three performing arts disciplines: drama classes, dance classes and singing classes - helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication and articulation - as well as being educational and fun. We offer examinations with Trinity College London, London College of Music and LAMDA. We operate from Tudor Grange school and our classes run for 3 hours 6-16 yrs or 90 mins 4-6 yrs and 45 mins 2-4 yrs during the school term. Back in 2012, when husband and wife team Steven and Kirsty Le Say hosted a Spoon Carving Workshop in a friends garden on the request of a few interested neighbours. In the years since, we’ve opened up our own seaside workshop just outside of Brighton, where we host a number of courses, teaching primitive skills and bushcraft. Steve teaches overseas as well, with Living by Nature and we are regularly exhibiting crafts or teaching at various events across Europe. We’re still in Brighton currently, but will soon be moving to South Wales – into the Brecon Beacons – and our courses and workshops will be hosted from there from Feb 2023. Our new space in Wales includes workshop space, 8 acres of land, a small woodland and a stream. It’s all nestled within the Brecon Beacons National Park in stunning scenery. A hiking footpath onto the Beacons themselves, runs directly parallel to our land. We teach bushcraft and ancestral skills for all ages and levels of experience We hand craft items inspired by ancestral craft, often using primitive tools and techniques. We also create bespoke pieces on request We’re available to exhibit and teach at events. We also curate fellow craftspeople for larger events under ‘The Craft Collective’ We write regularly for The Bushcraft Journal.
