Kevin Quinn graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2006 with a degree in Physics and Astrophysics, and again in 2010 with a PhD in Laser-matter interaction physics. On completing his PhD, Kevin retrained as a teacher, obtaining his PGCE in secondary science education from Imperial College London and Canterbury Christ Church University before going on to spend five years working at Highgate School in north London. Kevin has extensive experience in the teaching of the AQA and OCR GCSE specifications, and has served as an educational consultant to new and non-specialist teachers of both courses. Currently, he is teaching across all three secondary-level Key Stages at Regent House Grammar School in his native Northern Ireland.

In 2020, after an intense 5-year review, Colombia was welcomed as the newest OECD member. In 2021, GeeLearn Ltd. Partnered with the Children’s University at the University of EAFIT (Universidad de Los Ninos de Universidad Escuela de Administración, Finanzas Instituto Tecnológico) in order to volunteer its skills, knowledge, and talents to expanding the reach of Children’s University via digital learning throughout not only Colombia but the whole of Latin America. Background of GeeLearn Ltd. and its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative: Online Science Education for Children: Colombia to Latin America 2020 – 2023 GeeLearn Ltd. is a social enterprise headquartered in The Melting Pot, “Scotland’s Leading Centre for Innovation”. This volunteer effort for EAFIT Universidad de Los Ninos on behalf of GeeLearn Ltd. represents a social good and comprises a major part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative over a period of three years. The CSR initiative was approved by the company’s board of directors in the Autumn of 2020. The goal of the company was to engage with an educational initiative to help serve children in a developing country that is a member of the OECD. Colombia became an official member of the OECD in 2020, the 37thcountry to do so in the organization’s 60-year history. Dr. Erica Colón is a National Board Certified Teacher with over twelve years of teaching experience in 6th-12th grade secondary science, including Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Marine Science. In 2008 Erica earned her Master’s in Educational Administration, but quickly realized her passion was working with science teachers. Erica returned to earn her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011, and through one of life’s unexpected turns, she founded Nitty Gritty Science, LLC and has reached tens of thousands of science teachers all around the globe! NIST National School of Sciences is a premier education institution, which was established in 1993. It is situated at Lainchour, strategically important location in the Kathmandu valley, and is one of the constituent institutions under the NIST Foundation. The school has been conducting Plus 2 programme (Grade 11 – 12), now Upper Secondary school classes, both in Science and Management for the last three decades. The school follows the national curriculum under the National Examination Board (NEB), Nepal. The school management is planning to introduce other courses in Law, Arts and Humanities in Grade 11–12 in the near future while the ultimate goal is to provide the continuum of education from Pre–school to Grade 12 under the National School of Sciences within the next few years. The NIST Foundation was initiated by a group of scientists and academicians. The core objectives were to establish academic institutions, and to provide students with quality education focusing primarily on science and technology so as to promote the science education in the country. At present, there are nine academic institutions including the National School of Sciences under the NIST Foundation, and they run classes from Pre–school to university level at different locations. The school has always emphasized the academic excellence of students and fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration. As a result, our students graduate with outstanding performance in the board examinations every year. Today, many of its alumni are engaged in the highly regarded professions and businesses within the country and abroad. Nearly 1,000 students are enrolled annually in the Science and Management Stream. The students are drawn from different provinces, diverse culture and ethnicity allowing them to engage in intercultural understanding and to experience a rich learning.
