Our Vision JONES&US, working with community organisations, nonprofits, public services such as schools and groups across Renfrewshire and Central Scotland, makes fitness circuits and sporting activities, like handball, football, badminton, touch rugby, and basketball, fun for all ages and abilities. Our vision is to make exercising accessible to everyone by providing a safe and motivational environment, and thus we specialise in working with people and kids with mental health issues, learning difficulties, disabilities, Down’s syndrome, and on the spectrum. All of our activities are designed to improve people’s lives and aid them to gain control of their well-being by boosting their self-confidence and helping them find their inner strength along with building their physical one. We’re strong advocates for overcoming one’s limitations and challenges through the sense of empowerment that comes with getting involved in sports.

Cambian is one of the largest providers of specialist education and behavioural health services for children in the UK. Our services have a specific focus on individuals who present with high severity needs. We provide a broad range of specialist services across England. These services include specialist education schools and colleges for both day and residential learners, residential care homes and a therapeutic fostering service. Our specialist education schools and colleges support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger Syndrome (AS), moderate to severe learning disabilities, associated challenging behaviours and complex needs. Our specialist residential care homes support children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and associated complex needs. We provide care, therapy and education for a discrete cohort of needs within these homes; this includes provisions for children who have experienced complex trauma (neglect and abuse), those who have been sexually exploited, and those with a learning disability. These homes are all supported by specialists schools to support their individual educational needs. We also run a therapeutic fostering service through which we are able to support children with a variety of complex needs within a family environment. We recognise that each child is an individual with their own needs, desires and dreams, and we are fully committed to supporting each child to enable them to achieve ‘their personal best’. With such a broad range of services and an extensive focus on independent learning and living, employability and social skills, where appropriate we are able to support children through into their adult life.

It caters for learners aged 13-16 that find traditional school settings problematic and find learning through vocational activities beneficial. At Broadstones, we specialise in helping those that may have fallen behind, or out of education due to social, emotional or mental health issues, to catch up and identify a clear path to post-16 education. Our most recent Ofsted report states Broadstones is a GOOD school, where learners “make good progress” and are “happy and feel safe in the school.” “Staff are quick to form excellent relationships and re-build pupils’ self-confidence and self-esteem” and “teachers design work to meet the personal needs and interests of each pupil. As a result, pupils engage in learning and make good gains in their progress and development.” The school’s “approach is re-building pupils’ broken understanding of how to be successful in society. My interest in psychology and mental health began 17 years ago. Following my Psychology degree I began working for the NHS and training at Doctoral level to become a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. My aim was to be be able to practically apply psychological theory and research to help people to achieve emotional wellbeing and enhance their quality of life. Since 2012 I have worked in a variety of NHS psychology services, offering talking therapy and emotional support to individuals, couples and families. Between 2014 and 2020 I specialised in supporting people with long-term physical health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, Fibromyalgia and bowel conditions (e.g. IBS and IBD). Alongside my work with Heal.Feel.Connect. I now continue to work part-time for an NHS hospital in Gloucestershire, working with staff to reduce work-related stress and burnout, and promoting a culture of compassion and psychological safety within the organisation. After discovering a personal benefit to mindfulness meditation in 2014 I decided to pursue formal training in the delivery of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses. Employing these approaches with people in groups and during one-to-one therapy has further convinced me of the benefits of mindfulness for mental and physical health and I enjoy being able to share this wonderful and refreshing way of living with others. In 2021 I also completed training to be able to deliver Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) courses, which work to more deeply develop the self-compassion skills taught by mindfulness practise.

Matt WEston Matt WEston Education Consultant / Director Matt began his career working in industry using his attention to detail for quality assurance purposes, during this time he passed several courses on risk assessing and auditing. Matt has been involved in training, since early 2000s where he set up and provided training programs for individuals in industry. Since starting a teaching career Matt has trained, coached and provided CPD for both ITT and experienced teachers. Matt is a STEM Learning Facilitator and frequently works for Southampton University and St George’s SLP providing bespoke Chemistry and Teaching & Learning CPD for schools. More recently Matt has been working internationally, consulting with governments, industries and universities to develop national curriculums and schemes in Science, Technolog, Engineering and Maths (STEAM). Matt still enjoys tutoring students at KS3 and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics helping students achieve a better understanding of the subjects and an increased confidence to apply themselves. One of the biggest comments from students is “thank you for making me believe I can do Science”. Matt has had a love of the outdoors all of his life and his spare time is spent enjoying bushcraft, hiking, canoeing and cycling. Matt has worked closely with BushcraftUK and Forest Knights and his passion is now to combine his love of teaching with his passion for the outdoors so that new generations can be taught relevant content whilst developing important personal skills including communication, leaderships, problem solving, mental health and resilience.

HOPE Bereavement Support began in 2013 when the visionary and founder, Ansa, realised that there needed to be a place of safety and inclusion for all mothers who had sadly lost a baby to miscarriage, stillbirth or at any other stage of their child’s life. What was sorely needed was an accessible place where everyone would be able to find comfort and support for their loss; not feel alone or ostracised. She had a vision where everybody – regardless of age, sex, religion, ethnicity or any other difference – had the ability to access mental health and emotional support for their loss. Ansa’s ambition came from a painful journey; she is the proud mother of 9 rainbow children. Her determination to succeed grew after she struggled to find a suitable support group after her losses. During her healing process she became more empowered and went back to study, changing her career path to become a qualified and registered counsellor and Training Consultant. There was at that time very limited multi-lingual counselling services available, and furthermore, it was very expensive and the clinical models applied did not feel culturally diverse or sensitive to BME therapeutic needs. HOPE Bereavement Support initially started with three trustees (the founder, a secretary and a treasurer) as a small constituted community group in Leeds, setting up bereavement support groups run by befrienders and volunteers for women and families to meet after suffering the loss of a child. Over 7 years on, the organisation is now running support services in Leeds, Bradford and London and specialises in all types of bereavement. We have a team of over 30 people consisting of qualified counsellors, coaches, an occupational therapist, clinical supervisors and many befrienders and volunteers. All staff members are based nationally in different parts of the UK working together remotely. As the founder and CEO of HOPE services I feel very proud and overwhelmed with how much support, passion and dedication I have found in the people who have joined my organisation. When speaking and networking with other third sector and national organisations and their leaders, I was gratefully humbled for the respect given to our organisation in terms of what HOPE has to offer in fulfilling the need of our BAME communities access to mental health services in their own languages, and with our culturally inclusive person-centred approach towards each individual who accesses our services. Furthermore, I do not believe there is any other organisation that has achieved what we have in a short time as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This again is a testimony to the great BAME leaders from my board of directors, managers, supervisors and clinical practitioners that for me as a black leader I am proud to have alongside me as a driving force for HOPE. It feels like a lifetime ago when my career changed from the corporate field of working in the banking industry for 15 years of my life, I was able with my initiative and work ethic dedication to move up the management ladder to a customer service focused area manager role. So, therefore leading, motivating, coaching others from a leadership role comes very natural to me in my skill set as a CEO, but what really drives me is the passion and belief in compassion for all of humanity and this makes my job as CEO of HOPE very rewarding. From a personal development aspect I feel a winner as I am not only helping and giving back to my communities in the services that we provide in HOPE but also that I am helping my fellow BAME professionals nationwide who choose to join HOPE in their journey and development in furthering their career as BAME leaders within their respective fields of works. It has always been my mission statement as an individual and now as the head of the HOPE organisation that where possible I want to fight against stigma, shame, prejudice and racism in all its forms always with a heart full of compassion, love for humanity and kindness for all.
