St Benedict's Catholic School

Bury St. Edmunds

St Benedict's is a comprehensive secondary school of about 740 boys and girls aged from 11 to 18 years. The school serves the Catholic communities of West Suffolk and Thetford and gives priority for admissions to children who are baptised Catholics, but has always welcomed others who wish to gain from and participate in the Christian life of the school. St. Benedict’s is situated on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds and is readily accessible by car or public transport. The school has six acres of playing fields and the accommodation is spacious and under constant improvement. There are specialist suites for all subject departments. The School Library has been transformed into a Learning Resource Centre with the addition of a suite of computers. In addition to the Learning Resource Centre, there are 5 more dedicated Computer suites, making St. Benedict’s one of the best-equipped schools for ICT in the area. Remodelling the School Hall enhances our facilities for Sport, Drama and Worship, as does the addition of a Fitness Studio to enhance sport and promote healthy lifestyles. Special Needs provision is excellent, and based in a new Learning Support area. Recent extensions and improvements have included an All-weather surface for tennis, hockey, netball and 5-a-side football, an additional science room, and the new classroom block which serves as a base for year 7 and 8. Art, Drama and Music flourish and, in spite of the schools relatively small size, success on the games field is notable.

ForMission equips Christian Leaders to transform their communities through accredited training, thought leadership and missional support. Our academic programmes are an important part of what we do however they only tell part of the story of who we are. Our History Springdale College started life in 1980 as a mission college in Selly Oak, Birmingham, where prominent missionary Lesslie Newbigin taught in his last years of active ministry. In March 2015, with a growing missional vision, Springdale College was renamed ForMission College. ForMission offers degree courses, which have been accredited by Newman University since 2018, for students from a wide range of denominations and networks. Vision and Values ForMission’s vision is to encourage and equip Christians to transform the world through missional presence and action. The college seeks to be a learning community of reflective practice, community engagement, leading-edge missional theology, and participation in God’s mission. Our core values are being relational and missional; committed to diversity, excellence, and service. Ongoing Training ForMission College also offers a range of practical courses that can often be delivered in the local church. Many of our students start out on these courses before moving on to the BA or MA programme. We are proud that for many of our students, ForMission College is their first opportunity to study at this level.

Curran Coaching

I would not change anything about the sessions. I think it was very helpful that everyone was working on their own presentations throughout the programme, so we could support each other and give valuable feedback. I liked the atmosphere a lot, it was a “safe space” , fun and productive.” — GILEAD SCIENCES “My presentation could not have gone better! I truly enjoyed it and felt like I was ‘a natural’. This was not always like that. I worked with Nicky on various occasions. She is an excellent public speaking coach. She is confident, supportive and professional. She helped me to figure out how to tell the story and gain confidence when presenting. I could not be more grateful!” — NHS CONSULTANT “I attended all sessions and found it to be very helpful. The sessions presented by Nicky were very well laid out and very interactive. She made you feel at ease and provided useful and critical feedback. The recording of our presentations was extremely helpful and eye opening... The tool kit and especially the storyboard layout she provided is something that will be adopted and will steer my future presentations.” — VP ASSET MANAGER “I can’t recommend this course highly enough. As someone who felt fairly confident with presenting and preparing for presentations, I was keen to understand how I could further develop my confidence and deal with my main issues of ‘pausing and pacing’. The storyboard concept is fantastic and really created a ‘lightbulb moment’ for me - again something I will use is many aspects of my job, not just presenting. A definite 10/10!

WHO WE ARE UK Sports Schools offers specialist free advice and support for parents and students aged 10+ seeking to attend independent private schools in the U.K. that combine academic excellence with clear, proven and potentially elite pathways in football. We can help, because we have been through the process as parents 6 years ago, and since then, we have researched and established strong connections with some of the leading schools in the U.K. There are many excellent private independent schools in the U.K. with strong academics and offering a range of sports. However, when seeking a school specifically for football, you need to select carefully. A player who is serious about football needs a specialist U.K. football boarding school environment which is geared towards football progression and mirrors a pro club academy experience as closely as possible. The school should be playing at the highest levels in the country, offering a competitive fixture list with other top schools, non-league teams and pro academies and having an expert coaching team with influence in the game. Further, ideally the school should have a proven track record of clear pathways into professional football clubs or developing players who then go back to their home countries and play at a good level or go on to gain sports scholarships at US universities. We provide you with our expert, personal, insightful and unbiased advice so that you are able to find the right school for your son or daughter and most importantly have peace of mind.
