Trinity Academy St Edward's opened in September 2021. New secondary school in Barnsley. Barnsley high school. At TASE students experience an ambitious, challenging, knowledge-rich curriculum. Masters of Recall runs parallel to our curriculum and supports students to recall core knowledge so that they know more, do more and remember more. Students are given a knowledge organiser at the start of each term. Their home learning is to learn the weekly knowledge using ‘look, cover, write, check, correct’. This knowledge links directly to what students are studying in lessons. At the end of each term they complete a ‘Masters of Recall Big Quiz’. The aim is to be able to recall 100% of the core knowledge in each subject and earn their 100% subject sticker; this happens on multiple occasions, and we are extremely proud of our students. Our ‘Celebration of Knowledge’ assembly praises and rewards achievements each term. Staff and students love these assemblies and are proud to celebrate as a community with certificates, 100% subject stickers and badges. Students love the challenge and are working hard to achieve their MoR badges. Bronze badge = 10 x 100% stickers, silver badge = 25 x 100% stickers and gold badge = 40 x 100% stickers. Masters of Recall is incredibly successful. We already have celebrated students who have achieved 100% in all subjects and over 30 bronze badges have been awarded. Our students are passionate about learning new knowledge and applying this knowledge to new contexts. This is what academic excellence means at TASE.

Yoga & AyurvedaEmma Turnbull is the founder of Yoga Wise, Yoga and Ayurveda, and has recently opened a beautiful new dedicated studio in Mayland, Essex which runs regular classes, workshops and teacher training. Yoga Wise combines the ancient wisdom of both Yoga and Ayurveda and will be running the country’s first 500hr Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher Training in 2019. Emma Turnbull is a BWY teacher, BWY Foundation Course tutor, IYN Elder and also an Ayurvedic Practitioner. Emma trained with the BWY in 2005 and has special interest in teaching Yoga for Women and has trained with both Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Franscoise Freedman. She also had the privilege of completing a Yoga Nidra Teacher’s Training course given by Swami Pragyamurti of the London Satyananda Centre– a teacher who has greatly influenced her teaching and practice. Emma’s classes combine over a decades experience of teaching yoga with the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda – so that each offering is seasonally appropriate and aimed at balancing the excess of the season, Emma draws on lunar cycles, seasonal cycles and the natural world to inform her practice and teaching, she believes that by combining Yogic and Ayurvedic wisdom, through simple daily practices, life can be lived to the fullest by each of us. “I strongly believe that it’s the culmination of simple daily practices that make a difference, and that anybody at any time has the power to transform their lives using the amazing tools that Yoga and Ayurveda offer – I believe yoga is a lifestyle, a way of being, a gift for all!”

The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is honoured to be the UK’s leading specialist residential college of further education for people with a visual impairment. Since 1872, we have been building on our expertise and successes, which enable the College to offer a variety of products and services to a diverse audience. It’s not all about education for the 100 or so students who come through our doors each year. We also offer specialist training and support to businesses, universities and other education providers, and specialist professionals working with visually impaired people. From philanthropic beginnings in London to Shropshire, via a brief stay in Kent as World War II broke, to finally settling in Hereford, RNC has remained a beacon for people with a variety of visual impairments to increase their independence, build confidence and to learn academically, vocationally and socially. The College is proud of its 150 year history and of the pioneering work it continues to do, including sports, lobbying, work based learning and independent living skills.
