RYA Day Skipper shore-based online distance learning course

Yeadon Sailing Club's Come & Try sessions are an excellent way of trying sailing for those new to the sport. Experienced members will take you out on the water and take you on a trip around the tarn giving you a chance to learn more about how boats sail and to see if you will enjoy it. Whilst doing this they will talk to you about the many different ways you can enjoy this fun activity and also what the club has to offer. If you decide to join you will be able to take part in our Start Sailing training series that runs until August. Please come along with suitable clothing and a change (just in case) - There is a good chance your feet will get wet. We will have your details but you will need to fill in a declaration form for each sailing person. Only those sailing need to pay for sessions, those coming along to support you are more than welcome to watch from the comfort of the club house or come down to the jetty. All money raised from the Come & Try sessions will go towards our operating costs including equipment and the Clubhouse. Please note that sessions are available from April until the end of June to enable anyone who then wants to join the club a reasonable amount of time to join in Training before the end of the season.

The Newark Crusader offers affordable pre-booked cruises on the River Trent from Newark Marina for care homes, elderly, special needs, community, and educational groups with excellent disabled access, including those in wheelchairs. The pleasure of cruising on the River Trent is therapeutic, helping people relax and enjoy being in contact with wildlife and the outdoors. The Newark Crusader is a not-for-profit charity run entirely by volunteers. There is a large open foredeck, a heated saloon, a disabled toilet and a small galley/kitchen. The boat can carry up to 12 passengers and there are usually two trips a day lasting roughly 2 hours.  The cost of the service starts as low as £6 per person, but we do ask for a minimum contribution of £60 per trip towards our costs. Both our Principal Victoria and Chief Instructor Danny have a lot of experience in sail training and organising trips, so, no matter how big or small we will try to accommodate your request.  All our skippers and instructors are either fully qualified RYA Yachtmaster or Cruising Instructors with many years of experience sailing in Scotland and with years of offshore experience, sailing across the seas and oceans. They all have various other RYA qualifications and are keen to share their knowledge with you. Emergency First Aid at Work covering the full HSE syllabus. First Aid at Sea. This course is an excellent first aid training package for people to gain invaluable knowledge and skills and learn how to help themselves, family, team mates and friends if they were to have a medical emergency on the water. The content also serves as an excellent  annual refresher covering the full HSE syllabus plus head injuries, heart attack, asthma and much more. This course fulfils all the criteria for Appointed Person first aid training, however a practical course is required in order to be a full First Aider. This course is designed to give you the theoretical knowledge (and a lot more) needed to accompany the Emergency First Aid at Work 6 hour First Aid course adapted for sailing and watersports. This course does not seek to replace the practical element but allows you to undertake the online training at a time and place to suit you and then book onto practical course should you need to do so. The course consists of illustrated step by step directions, flow charts, diagrams, videos and test yourself sections fully compatible with all computers and mobile devices. You will be able to stop and start as often as you like and print your Certificate on completion. You will have continuous access to the course for 12 months. It is impossible to cover all eventualities within this course, or to equip you with the knowledge and skills to appropriately diagnose and treat in unpredictable real life situations.
