  I am Hannah Wiles, a Manchester based fine artist and furniture restorer. Having completed an arts degree and worked in the industry for a few years, I decided my mission would be to use my design skills and love of last century furniture to create stunning contemporary pieces. I saw furniture of amazing design and materials discarded as old fashioned. I knew in my bones we could do better and that we deserved better. I determined only to use environmentally sound products in the process. It is my absolute belief that our homes should mirror the beauty of the natural world, without damaging it and so Tread Softly was born. Creating gorgeous sustainable furniture that ‘doesn’t cost the earth’.

With a degree in Graphic Design from the University of La Plata, Argentina, I worked in print production and logo design until I moved to the UK in 1999. I have always had a particular interest in Typography and Calligraphy, and gradually the latter took over. Since 2016, I have focused my career on teaching and producing calligraphy work. I co-founded Love Calligraphy, where I worked until April 2020. I worked with Kirsten Burke on special events through the North West for Jo Malone, Clinique, Molton Brown and La Mer during my time there. Additionally, I have collaborated with Simple Lettering Magazine in two articles about Traditional Copperplate. Now, I work independently from home to better fit my work around my family life. My efforts are entirely behind the CalligrAbility initiative. I am a member of NWCA [http://www.northwestcalligraphers.org.uk/], SSI [https://calligraphyonline.org/], SLLA [http://www.southlondonlettering.co.uk/] and CLAS [http://www.clas.co.uk/]. Since February 2020, I have been collaborating with Joy Daniels [http://joydanielscalligraphy.co.uk/] on the Copperplate Special Interest Group [http://www.clas.co.uk/copperplate-special-interest-group/]. Meeting fellow calligraphers and great masters keep my motivation high and enrich my work.

Hi, I'm Stephie (not Fred), An embroidery artist and creative based in Manchester. I'm inspired by the natural and the man(chester) made, and passionate about encouraging others to explore and express their creativity. I LOVE running workshops and sharing the joy of stitching and creating with others. I want people to leave a Hoop & Fred workshop feeling better than when they walked in and empowered to create. Maybe they’ll fall head over heels with embroidery as I did, or perhaps they will simply feel better for having spent a couple of hours trying their hand at something arty and leave feeling confident enough to try other new things.  All my workshops are suitable for beginners. I  ensure everyone gets the time they need to ask questions, and they leave with all the materials and knowledge required to finish their project at home.

A former grain store and workshop, The Craft Barn was beautifully restored in 2014 to provide a bright & welcoming space for people young & old to enjoy their creative passions; be they novice or experienced. I was born in 1961 and brought up in Weobley, Herefordshire. I painted and drew from an early age, often inspired by the beautiful north Herefordshire landscape. My first career took me away from art, but the urge to paint did not leave me. In 2011 I changed career and returned to painting full time. Although I am now living and working in Greater Manchester my inspiration remains largely that of nature or the natural form. I love colour and texture and I paint mainly in oils often using palette knives to create texture. I exhibit regularly and work is always available to see in my studio as well as online. During the past year I had two very successful solo shows, ‘Inspiring Derbyshire’ which featured paintings from my blog ‘Inspiring Art Walks with Sarah Morley’, at The Green Man Gallery, Buxton in October and November
