A bespoke, private studio session with artist Puy Soden to help you experiment with alternative approaches to your art-making practice in a supportive space.
Huddersfield-based artist Puy Soden is offering an exciting new buon fresco painting workshop in Crafters Cottage, Honley, near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire this June. In Puy’s hands-on workshop you’re invited to experience specialist materials and methods, similar to those used by Michelangelo over 500 years ago for his incredible Sistine Chapel ceiling in Rome. Learn an ancient painting method and create your own beautiful fresco artworks on tiles for your home and garden.
The MATERIAL SENSITIVITY workshop provides the opportunity to make experimental art that focuses on the qualities and art-making possibilities of different materials.
Open up new possibilities in your art-making. Discover interesting relationships between the image and the background via three-dimensional experiments, colour-play, and fun ways of testing different materials.
An introduction to the many ways of making paint, and a fun, guided tour through the various processes of paint application beyond the conventional use of a brush.
Consider, select and prepare different supports for painting, and focus on the significance of ground in terms of both the image and the artwork’s structure.
Francesca Wyllie (BA Hons Fine Art) has an amazing north-facing art studio at El Retiro in Andalucia, which was purpose-built to accommodate painting groups. Bespoke painting and sculpture workshops can be arranged or Francesca can travel locally to guide you in your own studios or locations.
