Chipping Sodbury Golf Club

Had a fantastic afternoon at their festive bottomless afternoon tea. Food wasn't brilliant but the prosecco was constantly being topped up. Great entertainment with a fantastic singer who got us on the dancefloor - that wasn't expected 😄. A great way to get the Christmas festivities started!

Tees OK, fairways were OK, Bunkers not brilliant but quite a few being worked on, greens poor. Lumpy, bumpy, slow and a bit fluffy. They would take a ball into them so not rock hard but not up to their usual standard.

Went to a Ball at Sodbury Golf Club. Conveniently located with plenty of parking. The 3 course meal was very good and the 90 people there were served efficiently. Followed by a disco. Great evening.

Never played the course before today. Today was a Society 27 hole golf day. Bacon roll on arrival, 9 holes in the morning. Then sandwiches and chips at lunchtime followed by our 18 hole competition in the afternoon. Followed by a 2 course meal to finish. Course was in excellent condition, a tough challenge on some of the holes but you weren't overly penalised for a bad shot on the majority of holes. Clubhouse facilities and food were excellent. Great course just outside Bristol. Played several times and always immaculate. Very welcoming staff and pro-shop. Nice clubhouse including a spikes bar. Practice putting green, chipping area and open and covered driving range. Gave it four stars (would have given 4.5 if I could) as I don't know how it plays in the winter months but I believe it is shut for some periods of time. Parking and food available.
