I attended the RYA Marine Radio SRC course run by Andy. It was a long day packed with instruction and practical help which ensured I passed the exam at the end of that day. Altogether with Andy’s instruction it was very worthwhile. I have no hesitation in recommending Andy to anyone who wishes to obtain a Certificate to enable them to use a VHF radio.

  • VHF radio course and exam. It was a great day! there is quite a lot to learn (well was for me!) as i had limited experience, but Andy knows his stuff and there was plenty of chance to ask questions. The practical setup helped bring everything to life and make sense. Always a bit nervous taking and exam, but 3 of us on the course and all 3 of us passed. Many Thanks Andy, Lawrence

  • Andy trained me and several others for our Short Range VHF Certificate in June. The training was very good and the ability to practice on actual VHF sets was really helpful. We all passed. Well recommended.

  • I attended and passed the VHF SRC marine radio course. Andy provided very good pre-course guidance and information, which meant that the course itself was easier to understand. The theory course was very thorough and comprehensive and the practical use of the radios was well set-up and well taught giving me a good grounding before I use the radio in earnest on my boat. Many thanks Andy.

  • I have just completed my RYA VHF licence assessment and exam at Broadside Sailing. I'm pleased to be able to say that after a easy going but very informative training day I passed my assessment and exam. Broadside Sailing gets a five star rating from me due in part to the trainer Andy Royall going that extra mile in making sure my special meaning needs were catered for. Broadside Sailing also deliver other RYA Training events such as navigation, Day Skipper. It's a big thumbs up from me

  • I recently took the online course for the RYA Marine Radio Course. I felt that the online course prepared me well for the practical exam but less so for the written paper. Andy Royall sent me some of the handouts he uses for his classroom sessions, which helped tremendously. If I was starting again I would opt for the classroom training rather than the online. From talking to Andy after the exam it was clear that he has a depth of experience that I missed taking the online course
