Alton water would be a lovely place to visit if the car parking was better. We arrived early afternoon with the intention of walking. Unfortunately the first carpark we tried was going to be locked at 3.30pm. We went to the main visitor centre carpark. Locked at 4pm. Insufficient time for the walk we wanted to do and also we would have to pay for 3 hours parking if we went over 1 hour (even though we wouldn't be able to stay in the car park for the whole 3 hours.
