Relaxed approach by Spike (no oxymoron intended) in teaching while he emphasised safety needs, very necessary with a 1200C furnace in operation. And surrounded by plenty of hard objects.

What an amazing day. So much fun. Spike was very informative, safe and interesting. He helped me when my arm ran out of steam (!!) and was very clear in his instructions. A great experience in the forge.

I had a brilliant day at Bearded Pig Forge. Excellent tuition from Spike. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in blacksmithing.

Excellent introduction to forging metal to create knives. Spike was an excellent instructor, offering a wealth of knowledge diverse as the history of the art to the chemical composition of different steels. He firmly believed in forging to finish so encouraged us to get as near to the finished shape through heat/hammer. I loved the end result, not pretty but all my own work, certainly stands out in the knife block!
