Andrew Wood Jazz

I've known Woody since he was about 17 years old where we played together in Carlton Brass Band and competed at a national level with me on kit and Woody on tuned percussion. At the time I knew him to be an exceptional jazz drummer. Years later and Woody has become a friend and colleague in the local and national playing and education scene. Andrew is an amazing teacher! Always helpful and pushing you to get better at the same time. He works on every aspect of drumming and many genres too, he asks what you want to learn then tailors the lessons to your specific needs, making them as enjoyable as possible while still teaching you. You will find yourself improving rapidly and being able to play things you thought you never would! He's a great teacher and i would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Andrew is a remarkably talented player for his age, possessing a fluent sense of musicality with both fluid technique and an authentic jazz feel. He's a laidback cat to boot which makes his lessons very relaxed and he deals with difficult musical topics in a very pragmatic way which helps to demystify the art form. I would highly recommend him as both a teacher and a player, an asset to any musical group or educational situation, he's just a nice bloke.

I have been learning drums with Andrew for a couple of months, starting as a complete novice. Each lesson is the highlight of my week, because he individually tailors every session to push my drum playing while also keeping things musical and fun. He's a friendly fellow and all round good bloke. Being a professional drummer, he can also provide plenty of insights into the music world. Absolutely would recommend to anyone!
