Description

Join illustrator Susan Mitchell for a relaxing and fun botanical collage workshop.

In this two hour class, you will learn how to create your own unique botanical collages using a variety of vintage papers and paint. You will take home a framed finished collage.

No drawing skills are needed as we will be cutting and tearing the papers to create our collage pieces.

Our reference will be the wonderful collages of Mary Delany, who didn't start creating her delicate and vibrant collages until the age of 72, which is a lovely reminder that it is never too late to get creative and learn something new!

More information

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.

Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.

All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.

PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking. We require a minimum number of bookings to ensure we can pay our creatives a fair fee and bookings are non-refundable unless we cancel. Should we have to cancel, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.

Private workshop bookings

Most of our workshops are also available to book for small private get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and as in-store retail events. For larger groups, many of our workshops can be brought to a location of your choice.

Age restrictions

Our workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied for insurance purposes. Please check with us before booking.

About The Arienas Collective

The Arienas Collective
The Arienas Collective
Edinburgh

The Arienas Collective is a creative workshop hub based in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town. The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Its name comes from Loch Arienas, a beautiful and remote spot in the Morvern area of the Scottish Highlands. We believe that engaging in creative activity is good for our health and wellbeing. Our workshops suit beginners, returners and those who want to challenge their own creative practice. Group sizes are kept small, so that our artists and makers can give you the help and support you need to get the most from your experience. Join us to release your inner creative and you will leave having learned new skills, made new friends, and with a finished piece we hope you will feel proud of. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
