1. Getting started

This section focuses on understanding what 3D modeling and laser cutting is, and how to get started. This course takes us through the concepts involved in 3D designing to competence.

In this video, the author/instructor introduces the concept of 3D designing and laser cutting from a beginner's point of view with no experience in this discipline. The author explains the applications and software to be used in this modeling course.

2. How to Download

In this video, we will look at a demonstration to download and install the Fusion 360 software. It will take us through the process of installation and setup and configuration.

3. User Interface

After installing the Fusion 360 application, we will look at the user interface or the Fusion 360 console and its features in detail.


2. 3D Modeling Fundamentals

This section focuses on modeling different shapes, patterns, constraints. We will look at the different multifaceted 3D surface objects, including an octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron.

1. Modeling a Chair

In this video, we will look at a demonstration that constructs a 3D chair. We will look at the entire design process. We will begin by creating a sketch, then we will use the extrude function to create the seating area, add corners, reselect shapes.

2. Platonic Solids 1: The Octahedron

In this video, we will understand platonic solids, which includes objects or shapes with similar spaces coming together, including the tetrahedron, cube, dodecahedron, and icosahedron. In this lesson, we will focus on the octahedron.

3. Platonic Solids 2: The Dodecahedron

Here, we will continue with the platonic solids and in this video, we will understand how to construct a dodecahedron, which is a shape made of 12 pentagons.

4. Platonic Solids 3: The Icosahedron

Continuing on with the platonic solids, in this lesson, we will try and construct an icosahedron. The instructor demonstrates two ways of constructing the same, followed by a recap of what you learned in the last three lessons.

5. Modeling a Bench Using Technical Drawings

This video demonstrates the process of modelling a 3D bench using technical drawings. The process of using a technical drawing and converting it into a 3D object-in our case, a bench-is explained.

6. Recap, Arcs, Patterns, and Constraints.

This video is a continuation of the learning from the last video, where we modeled a bench. Here, we will look at more detailed explanations on how to generate arcs, patterns, and use constraints to restrict or modify shapes.

In this lesson, we will discuss pausing on designing for 3D printing and focus on designing for laser cutting. We will also discuss the project that we will create at the end of the course.

This section focuses on 3D modeling for laser cutting. We will create objects such as lamps and boxes of different shapes using laser cutting. We will also discuss constraints in designing.
