Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to Bring a Yoga Mat

Yes, please bring your own mat and any accessories you wish to use such as blocks or straps.

  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes such as leggings and a t-shirt, sweat top etc. You might want to wear layers. Please remember that some of the venues get cold in the Winter months so feel free to wear jumpers, sweat tops or any other item of warm clothing.

  • What Type of Yoga is it

Gentle Hatha Yoga, is designed to tone and stretch your body. The class is 60 minutes and starts with a warm-up, then a flow and a cooling down period. I can offer you modifications of you are new to yoga.

  • What should I wear

Please bring a water bottle, and wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in - sports kit is ideal. Expect to be moving around a lot on your mat!

You may also want an extra layer for warmth and comfort during relaxation at the end.

  • I haven't done yoga before/for a whille - Can I come to your class

I welcome both beginners and seasoned yogis to these classes. The classes are mixed-ability, so there are always options given to either modify postures down, or increase the challenge up. I aim to make you feel supported in your progress, wherever you are on your yoga journey.

Many people feel nervous about practising yoga in a larger group setting, especially if it is their first time doing yoga or exercise. If this sounds like you, I also offer private 1-to-1 sessions. Please email, me for details sharon@namastehathayoga.co.uk

  • 1'm not bendy can I do Yoga

Yoga is not about contorting your body into crazy shapes (although that can be fun!). My classes focus less on getting into complicated postures, and more on centering into your core and balancing mobility and strength so that you feel great inside and out. If you’re not bendy, that’s not a problem. Yoga will assist you in relieving tension and gaining mobility in a safe and supported way. In fact, if you’re not bendy, that’s all the more reason to come to yoga!

  • Can men do yoga

Absolutely! More and more men are turning to the yoga mat for a good workout and to relieve stress and support their mental health and wellbeing. Yoga was traditionally practised by men only, and not women! These days, it is very rare for me to have an all-women’s class- you almost certainly won’t be the only man in the room.
