We believe that to be an appropriate age for our style of teaching, and a strong command of language and comprehension are required for lessons. A child also needs a high degree of self control; while your child may very well have the aptitude for lessons or be ahead of the curve attention-wise, our junior lesson plan is specifically structured for students aged 6-10.

As mentioned above, we have a tailored lesson structure that we believe is best for children aged 6-10; however, that’s not to say that you should not pursue music education for your young child. At this time, the London Piano Centre offers private piano lessons for children. We think this method is the most effective way to teach, and we believe that young children grow the fastest in a one-to-one lesson setting. That said, we are supportive of parents who wish to enroll their child in a group class as a supplement to their private lessons.

We cover all of the fundamentals in our lessons with children, and we want to facilitate a lifetime of music enjoyment. We start with proper playing position and technique; no amount of note reading or ear training will help someone who develops pain or carpal tunnel from playing the piano incorrectly. We also cover note reading, rudimentary music theory, and musical interpretation, and we will proceed at a pace that is beneficial for your child. Lessons are always unique to each student (everyone learns differently), and we will design a special lesson plan just for your child.
