Description

Background

This session is for those who find themselves teaching even though they have not yet gone through teacher training. It is designed to give you the basic tools you need to begin delivering to ensure that learning takes place.

During this session 3 processes that are essential to the role will be covered – planning, delivering and assessing.

There are other issues that are important to your teaching role such as: managing behaviour; supporting pupils with SEN; developing other skills/making links with other subjects but because this workshop does not in any way replace or partially replace teacher training we will cover the basics required for a quick start.

Who is this course for?

Teaching assistants, learning support assistants and those who are getting ready to deliver learning.

What will be covered?

  • planning a lesson using the 5-minute plan

  • how to ensure that what you deliver is added to pupils’ long-term memory

  • how to use questioning effectively

  • how to make written feedback more effective
